It depends in what you want out of your phone. I made the switch from the 5 to the S4. The 5 is a good phone it never gave me any problems, it is just not what I wanted anymore. I am an apple fanboy, but I do have my opinions about products and will pick-out what works best for me. That being said, unless apple changes their product line life-cycle model. I do not see the 5s having that drastic of changes. NFC will be on the 6 along with quadcore. The thing that they will be pushing in July at the press conference ,is going to be IO7. If that gives users more freedom like speculations the 5s will play off of that to show users they are not lock in such a small cell anymore.

The only advantage I see in the Apple App store is three fold.
They get some major apps first i.e. Vine, Instagram, etc.
Some software makers only focus on App store until they either make enough money to program for Android or until they get the funding to program for Android.
Apple app store focused on the tablet section as soon as they released the iPad, Google play is catching up and improving on that department probably another year away from matching in that department.

. What I do know is that ALL major apps are available on Android. I have yet to hear what ''major" app is missing from Android. Vine is a video app owned Twitter that has taken off like wildfire. It has been in the top of the free app charts for the App store.
Mailbox on IOS only. Has been out for a couple months just bought by Dropbox for 100million.
CamMe an app similar to snapchat, IOS only.
Save the mom, came out for IOS first will be out for Android soon.
There is also a lot of medical technology and attachments that are only for IOS not on Android.
I understand you may not have heard about these apps, but it doesn't invalidate my point. Startups are looking for money, the money from investors and potential buyers are looking more how well you are doing in the IOS market. Or they basically will tell you, make it for the iPhone first. Here is 300K for your team, you do what I say when it comes to choosing the market.
Right now it just how it is. It has to do with all the attention IOS still attracts. Things are evening out but right now as of today, App store is favored by investors looking for the next big thing. This is more behind the scenes though, the stuff you never hear about. How you get thrown money for IOS and then Android is viewed as the step child market to step into.
Funny story I can tell you. One company that I have personal dealt with, made their remote viewing software first for the ios market.
Then Blackberry...

What the hell would anybody make software for Blackberry ahead of Android?
Because the CEO had a blackberry phone and he wasn't switching.

I'm confused as to why it's only one of those two, but I'll take it for granted that there is a reason... being an Android fan I'd normally recommend Android, but you seem drawn the other direction. If the concern is whether or not it'll be a good device, I think we all agree that iPhones are pretty reliable and simple to use devices and many are excited for the new version of iOS coming out this year. The S4 is easily one of the top 5 devices on Android this summer and it's a known quantity. If you're comfortable waiting and the only real motivator to act now is the amount of money you may make above and beyond the 4s sale price 4 months from now, I'd say wait.
You listed some specs and features, but those don't matter when comparing Android to Apple. What matters is what you want your phone to do and how you want to use it personally, not what we think about the "new features" they are rumored to come out with.
My recommendation is to hold off, see the announcement, whatever it is in two weeks and make a judgement based on the information available about iOS 7 at that point and, if it's disappointing, pull the trigger now on the S4... but if it's exciting for you, what's another 3 months and $25-$75 different on the price for something that's going to make you happy?

Lag can most likely be a result of TouchWiz being the culprit. You can try downloading a different launcher, like Nova or ADW from Play. They are free and often use less resources than TouchWiz.

TouchWiz can easily be bypassed by downloading a different launcher, like Nova or ADW. The are free on Play, offer more customizing, and often reduce lag greatly. TouchWiz can be a resource hog.
I would wait. My wife is still not eligible for upgrade so I got her a used s3 to replace her iPhone 4 8gb. Was going to get her the iPhone 4s but I'm going to wait. Only thing is now she likes android better than her iPhone. But in the end I like her to have the iPhone due to the easy backup options. I stick with android due to all the rooting I do. I guess we'll see what she decides. But if the 5s does have nfc and fingerprint scanner I think I'll be getting that for her. She loves Google wallet.

I was being a little sarcastic when I said if I don't know an app then it's not popular.
I guess I just don't find all these new comers important enough to go with one phone over the other. Vast majority of people got what they want/need for every day life on both Android and iOS. If one must always download the newest app then I guess iOS is what you gotta go with.
Apple is going to release the iphone 5s and it for the most part will be the same exact phone as the i5. Sure it will have better insides but it will look exactly like the I5. Sure it may have a finger print scanner button...Gasp....so what. Do you really need that? Does it server any purpose besides security? Frankly I see that feature as being one that I could care less as it's a gimmick. If that is really apples biggest accomplishment than I think it's time to set sail for another phone. If you keep waiting for the next big thing you will always be waiting because there will always be another amazing phone that's coming soon.
I do not think it is a gimmick at all. It is so much easier to unlock your phone via a finger print scanner than by always punching a bunch of numbers or drawing lines on the lock screen.
I have removed my security lock on my phone because I find it so annoying to punch the numbers everytime the screen turns off.

Than it might be for you then, it could be very useful indeed if you always use a phone lock. But that would mean no one can use your phone which may get annoying. For instance my wife and I use each others phones for whatever reason with this I would have to unlock it every time. As it is now we could tell each other the pass code and allow use. What happens when the button breaks...or what if it just doesn't work every time.
Regardless though, it will sell well I'm sure. You just have to ask yourself if this one feature out weighs a bigger screen and the other options the SG4 offer because I don't see the iphone as being much different aside from this feature.

I just switched to the Note 2 from an iPhone 5 and haven't looked back. I'd say go for the S4.

I switched from my iPhone 4S a month ago to the Galaxy S4 and I'm more than thrilled! I used iPhones for 4.5 years, but when they didn't make the screen larger, I decided to jump from iOS to android. I still love my iPad HD and MacBook, but as far as mobile phones go, this new Galaxy is phenomenal. The camera is better than my stand alone Canon. I miss FaceTime and iChat, but the new Google Hangouts have solved that problem! I just asked my entire set of friends and family to download Hangouts and they actually did it. I'm not sure if the next iphone update will have a bigger screen or if that will come with the iPhone 6 next year. Give the S4 a try - if you don't like it after a week or so, take it back. Good luck......I was in the same boat trying to decide to wait or not for the 5s to have similar specs to what the S4 already offered but then I seen the screen of the S4. I know apple is not going to change their screen so the S4 was a no-brainer.

I can offer a subjective view point since I have owned the iP4, 4S and bought the iP5 on day 1, sold it in a month, then bought it again a couple of months ago (work related) but just found I could NO LONGER tolerate a 4" screen no matter what the OS. Now that aside there are pro's and con's to getting iOS vs Android. Yes you get the updates immediately from one iteration to another without carrier involvement on iOS, BUT, you are locked into their candy coated world where you can only do what Apple wants.
Android makes more options available to you and honestly if the GS4 is not to your liking a couple of months after the iP5S comes along with be the GN3 or some other super hot phone like a Nexus 5. The biggest indisputable fact is that Android is so open and fluid you can literally waste your days away waiting for the perfect device because there is literally another great device right around the corner, where with iOS you get 1 iteration a year and its a warmed over version of last year or some shiny ooh ahh gee wiz feature you will find boring a month or two later.
You can do more, see more and enjoy life more with your "Life Companion".
