For a while, I've considered getting a tablet, but always found it a bit hard to justify. There's the extra cost, obviously, but the issue of carrying around multiple devices as well. The Note 3 seems to be a good compromise, something that bridges the gap between smaller phones and larger tablets by being large enough to provide a decent tablet-like experience while also being small enough to function well as a phone. As others noted, the reviews of the Note 3 have seemed to be generally positive -- it's a powerful device. And with its larger size, I'm not that interested in getting a tablet anymore. I don't use it for voice calls that much, but I don't think it's any more uncomfortable than using any other phone for me. As for sitting with the device in a pocket, that's going to depend on the person and probably their pants. For me, while I can sit with the Note 3 in my pants pocket, that's not my preference. I tend to do that only if I plan to sit for a short period of time before getting back up again. Normally I'll take it out of my pocket and put it on the table, sit it on my lap, or put it in a coat pocket (when I have a coat). As for the Nexus 5, it would probably be a good choice, but IIRC the Nexus 4 was GSM-only. I don't know if Nexus 5 specs have been released officially, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's also GSM-only. If you're on a CDMA network like Verizon or Sprint, you may not be able to get the Nexus 5. I hope this is of some help.
