should I return my phone

I know this has been gone over a million times but today is my last day to exchange it if I want. My battery life has been terrible from the start. On Saturday I took someone's advice and switched it to CDMA instead of global (I'm on verizon). That day I was able to get 5 hours of on screen time and 20 hours from full charge. That only lasted a day. Here is as of this morning. I love the phone just not sure if I should swap it out and try my luck on a new one.

If I bought it online at Verizon can I swap it out at a brick and mortar store? Also do I need the box and everything it came with?

Assuming they have them in stock, that typically works but I'd recommend calling the store first, both to double check the return policy and the available stock.

The Facebook app is known to be a battery killer with how it's always constantly running in the background even when not in use. I've switched to an app called Metal. I'm at 51% battery with full charge from 11:45pm last night, and my estimated usage time remaining is 13 hours...I'm also on Verizon as well.

Wow you guys android system is using a lot. My stays between 6-11% . I have the exynos version though. My SOT yesterday was 6:40

I let my phone charger to 100% and left it on the charger for 10 mins once it hit 100. I rebooted the phone and did not open up facebook at all. Does the info below look accurate with amount of battery time left? I feel like it should be higher, the SOT is only 15 mins.

Seeing as it's your last day, I would return it for a new one if you like the s7. I think the phone is awesome so far. I only had mine 4 days but it's shaping up to be a great phone for me personally

If screen on time isn't the biggest battery user, there's something wrong. Android system shouldn't be taking up that kind of power. If you're going to return it anyhow, try a factory reset and give it 30 minutes then check what's using the battery.

Long story short, today is 15 days not 14 since I activated the phone so Verizon won't do anything.

Gross. :(

Ok, let's get you into some battery troubleshooting threads - hopefully some of the tips here will help. (note that these are for the S7 Edge but most tips should be applicable).

Step 1 (I can't take credit for this, I read it in one of these threads) - change your default cellular network to LTE/CDMA.

Well since you can't just exchange it, I would really do a factory reset and start fresh. I know it's a pain the A, but with that kind of SOT I think it would be worth it. First try to put the phone in safe mode and see what the OS is doing....if it's till very high, then do the factory reset and install your apps slowly so you can determine if it's a rogue App. Watch the email too, because when your syncing a lot of mail, sometimes the email gets stuck in a loop of push/pull. Let us know your progress

For those of you with lower Android System drain - are you on the Exynos version (most non-US and unlocked). There is a large battery thread on XDA and the conclusion is battery is much better in Exynos, and the main difference is much less drain by Android System.

I am on the Snapdragon - Verizon, and my Android System and Android OS drain are high. I get about 18-20 hrs / 2.5-3 SOT, and I have all the location, OK Google, one Gmail on Push and one exchange on Push, Weather sync every 2 hrs, wifi and Bluetooth constantly on. Only feature I turned off was wifi and Bluetooth scanning (the location settings one).

So I took your advice and changed some settings. I did not do a factory reset yet, I wanted to try tweaking the setting first. I tried to clear the cache on the recovery mode but it just kept saying downloading on a blue screen on nothing happened. I charged my phone to 100 percent before bed and unplugged it. With the always on screen function with time turned on, I only lost 3 percent in about 8 hours. This is my usage today, with 3:45 mins of SOT. It seems much better. So thanks for the tips.
