Hello guys!

Currently, I have a Nexus 7 (2012). I been looking into getting the Nexus 7(2013). Should I go out and buy a Nexus 7 (2013)?

Welcome to Android Central! Even though it's 2 years old, mine still works great. If you can find a good deal on it, it may be worthwhile. But a lot of them on the market are probably used or refurbished, so the problem is that you can't be sure how the previous owner treated the battery. If they abused the battery, it might be have started deteriorating early.

I bought one used off eBay to tide over until a possible 7 successor or a nexus 8. The 9 is a bit bigger than I want and too expensive for what I use a tablet for.

If they come out with a new 7 or 8 back in that 200-300 range I'd be all over it.

It seems to work well so far under marshmallow, especially given its age. Performance and battery life are alright with me for what I paid ($80 used). Pretty happy with it!

I flashed the factory image the day it was available and I've been happy with it ever since. My battery life is longer, many of the notification quirks that I disliked were fixed, and the performance is no different than Lollipop as far as I can tell. I only experienced an incompatibility with one application that I seldom use and it has been fixed.

Every time a new upgrade comes along there are a slew of negative comments from people that haven't even attempted the upgrade. They blame problems with previous upgrades on Google while most of the time it was something that they have done. I flash a new factory image to my Nexus 7 instead of doing the OTA upgrade, and everything is fresh and clean. I leave my apps and data alone. I do the same with my phone and every upgrade has been great. Yes Google, like Apple and Microsoft, isn't perfect and some bugs creep into the release, but they have been minor compared to the benefits of the new release. They typically are fixed quickly too.

Milliman, thanks for the information. Tell me, did you happen to have bad luck with the Nexus 7 & it running Lollipop? Eventually it became so bad for me that I flashed it back to Kit Kat. Is Android 6 better for the N7? Or am I better off looking towards other versions of Android, such as Cyanogenmod? I am very curious in what you think!

Thanks!

Yes.... Won't be a bad decision, especially at the price point you can find some really awesome refurbished or used ones.
