Showing eligible for discount when definitely NOT. *confused*

So I log onto Verizon's website and this is the first thing I see:

 This can't be right. I burned my upgrade on the Bionic on release date. Lo and behold though, I went through the checkout and got to the last page and it showed $317.99 as the total and the "Submit Order" button. I'm hesitant to do it because I want to try to get it in-store today instead, but I'm not sure if this is some sort of glitch that I should be jumping on or some special offer that I just don't know about.

My plan as of right now is to hit Best Buy, see if I can get it there (Best Buy and Amazon are telling me I'm not eligible for a discounted upgrade when I check online) and if not, I'm going to hit Verizon (with a handful of screenshots) and work something out there. I'd really like it in-hand today but if waiting a day to have it delivered gets it for me at the on-contract price, that's a price I will pay.

It will say "eligible for upgrade" if you could upgrade.

Any idea why it's letting me get to this then?

If it wasn't going to let me get it at the on-contract price, why's it letting me be one click away from checking out? (Although I do find it odd that it seems to have removed data entirely.)

I'm in the exact same situation as you and the Verizon store verified last night that I get the upgrade price.

Verizon is giving early upgrades to people, it's not a glitch and has to be done at vzw corporate stores or the site.

Dang wish I could get this deal!! My line isnt due until Sept and that date is always showing up for me. No early discount. I wonder if they are doing it for all Bionic customers since they really screwed them over with all the new release so soon after Bionic release.

I had the same thing happen to me, but it's even weirder - I went into a VZW corporate store, fully willing to pay off-contract for the GN. They pulled up my account, told me I wasn't eligible for upgrade. I said "that's fine, I'll pay full retail". They went and got the GN, rang it all up and said they were knocking $50 off for me, and your total is $287 (with taxes and screen protectors - NYS taxes are hideous). I was like, whoa, didn't you just tell me I'd have to pay full retail? He checked and was like "yeah, it's been doing this for people going from one 4G device to another" (I had a Thunderbolt before)

I originally thought that it was a ploy to get me off of my unlimited data, but that doesn't appear to be the case at all. Oh well, my bank account is happier with the $400 than it would be if it were in Verizon's bank account :)

I should have tried that instead of burning another line's upgrade.

I had the EXACT same thing happen to me. I didn't get $50 off, just got my Corp discount of $10 off. But yeah, went in expecting to pay $650, they said I wasn't eligible for an upgrade, I said I know, I'll pay full. And when she went to ring me up she noticed I was eligible for an upgrade, went and got her manager, and her manager told her to just run it. And at first I misheard her and thought she was telling me once again I wasn't eligible, be she in fact told me I was.

I too thought it was going to take away my unlimited data, but it didn't. I came from a Charge. So maybe it was a hidden promotion they're giving people that got first gen LTE devices.
