Sideloading data files on SD card

I have recently converted my NC to CM7 via the SD card. However, I have not been able to find detailed instructions on how to load data files (word, excel, pdf, mp3, etc) onto the card. I have partitioned it with Easus and have 10 gig available. But when I insert the SD card to my pc, it only shows the root drive. How do I access that 10 gig of empty space? Thanks for any help for this android newbie!
