Hey guys, thought I would let you know about a couple new items to help you with your sideloading woes.

First, for unrooted (or rooted and lazy ;)) users, there's a new version of the Sideload Wonder Machine out. It's bug free as far as I know, and it has a pretty slick new look. Check it out, and be sure to thank Jerry (gbhil) and DroidXcon for their hard work.

Next, for those of you who are rooted but haven't jumped into the world of flashing ROMs, I wrote up a guide on how to manually enable sideloading (Yeah, I know you can use SuperOneClick, but not all phones can use it. Plus it's just fun, at least to weird people like me :p). Check it out here.

Hope this helps, and have fun sticking it to AT&T ;).

I've been using ver 1.2 of the side loader you posted. It's excellent & works every time!

nice. this program seems to work better than the first one. i got amazon, and swype and tether on it already. thanks

So if I use this to download the Amazon app store will I have to use it every time I want to download an app from there or would it now allow me to download from Amazon directly to the phone.

You will be able to download the app from Amazon directly to the phone, however, you will not be able to install the file (.apk install file). This is where the Sideload Wonder Machine is to be used. You just point the program to the file you want to install and it will do it for you. It's a little bit annoying, but it works! I guess it's the price you have to pay for not wanting to root AND being on AT&T.

Ok cool thanks guys. I think I shall try that today when I get off work! My buddy has tmobile and I love the Amazon app store. I think the android market has become so diluted with crap it's annoying trying to find good programs sometimes.

Well I'm still a bit confused. I got the amazon app store installed and running perfectly. I download an app from it and the phone still tells me I cannot install from third party blah blah. So I'm not really sure how I go about downloading that same app from my computer to my phone. I tried opening my phone from the pc and download the .apk file for whatever program I downloaded on the phone and I do not see them. Any help would be appreciated.

Once you've downloaded the app from Amazon App store on your phone, all the .apk files can be found in the following directory in your SD card:

Android--->data--->com.amazon.venezia--->cache

From there, you can just copy the apk file over to your computer. It also isn't a bad idea to keep a copy of the apk file on your computer. That way if you got the app as a free deal of the day, you can reinstall it afterward.

Once it's on your computer, just let the Sideload Wonder Machine do it's magic.
If you purchase apps from another place (other than Amazon), you'll have to do a little searching on your SD card to find it (usally they are in the "downloads" folder), but everything else should be the same. Hope this helps!

Ah ok, cool thanks a lot! I had almost found the right location lol. I'll have to try it again...when my buddy comes back with his computer. I only have a mac lol. O well. Thanks again for the help!

Hi, guys, need some advice.
I am trying to download the SLWM, but I am stuck at the part where it tells me to download a app to my computer, then open up the Sideloader.
How do I download a app to my computer?
