Sidesync Kayboard

Maybe I am just missing something here...

I am able to use sidesync no problem with my tab s and note 3. However if I need to type something the keyboard will not come up. What am I missing?

it has to be the default keyboard on your note 3...thats what it was for my galaxy s5
