Signal Bars Fixed?

so i just took my old storm out and did a side by side test, they both read the same or about the same dbm, its weird tho because i always use to have 3g in my room now my storm was saying 1x so i dunno if verizon is doing some kind of maintenance or something but its def the same on both phones, so i took it out side and the incredible jumped to -60 dbm and still had one bar where the storm was still in 1x

On a bb storm 1XEV is 3g. The storm doesn't say 3g unless you have installed a hybrid os on it or something. Now if its 1xev, i am not sure if its 3g or not. I know there is a difference between the caps and no caps though.

I believe when it's lowercase it means you are receiving a diminished 3G signal. Meaning same band but lower signal.

yes i did noticed that the HTC droid incredible have weak signal, because i was right next to someone with a moto droid with full signal and when i look over my incredible it was at 3 bars....can that be fix?

I still think it's simply because the phone isn't calibrated on the same standard. Especially after reading this:

Yep!

My curve gets full bars but -80 and my incredible gets 2-3 bars at most and -81.
Not bad!

Maybe it all boils down to the meter is just more sensitive. If you aren't having connection issues, or dropped calls etc. I wouldn't worry about it.

Who cares? I mean...I get it...and kind of dwelled on it for the first hour or so, but it's pretty clear that it is a UI "bug" and not an actual problem with the radio.

Here's interesting... on a call, the bars go up. Off a call, down. I checked the signal strength itself-- it was unchanged.

No change for me, and I definitely get worse radio reception with this phone than with my Blackberry (signal in my house is pretty crappy anyway but the curve seemed to hold out longer).

i'm in the exact same boat as you

sh!tty house reception
used to own a curve
my incredible has worse service

anyone shed some light on this??

Meanwhile I am seeing a constant -50 indoors and outdoors -30 to -25. Bars hold steady.

Voice quality is excellent as well. I am coming from a Storm 2 and it was not as clear. Before that I had an iPhone 3G and call quality was horrible.

Here, the bars seem about the same, and I have had no reception issues at the house, on the freeways or at work.

No change for me either. Mine stay pretty much between -70 to -87 regardless of where I'm at or what I'm doing.

I don't have any issues with signal quality, and thus I haven't paid much attention to the "bars". I recall that on my blackberry, there was a way to replace the bars with the -dbm value by punching in a secret code. It would be nice if the Incredible could do the same thing. IMO the signal strength number is more useful information than the bars, at least to me. But, with the digital systems these days, all that really matters is that you have signal. It either works or it doesn't. Anything above what is required to get the job done is just link margin as far as I am concerned.
