Signal boucing around all over

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue, but my signal bounces around all over the place. One minute 3 bars, the next zero. It's not steady at all.

Anyone else having this issue? Is it software or hardware? I'm not rooted, on 2.1.

Right now, zero bars. But in the status menu it says my signal strength is -91 dBm

Yeah man, I've been having this issue as well the past few days and it's ticking me off. 3 bars, 1 bar, 1X, 1X 2 bars, 3G 4 bars...

Love my X and hate to see my battery drain from bouncing to 1X from 3G all day long in areas that my o.g. Droid always had full 3G bars. Called Verizon, no answers. Done battery pulls, *228 to update roaming capabilities and all that. Probably gonna go by big red today and talk to a rep. I'm still under my 30 days and can get a new (not "like new", but new) device if they can't help to fix it.

Are you in Dallas by any chance?

I had the same problem with my first DX. Got it replaced and it has helped. I think something is wrong in the software because yesterday it loaded a web page instantly while icon said 1x.

Weird, I'm in Bay Village (Cleveland) and it just started happening yesterday. Not that it hasn't happened before but yesterday I couldn't text or make calls.

Happens all day long to me. Absolutely has an affect on the battery. Hoping Froyo fixed it.

Same here, yesterday my battery was done in 5 hours. I hardly used the phone at all. I will say that it has been fine until yesterday the 31st.

If your signal strenght is -91dbm then you are getting pretty crumby signal. As for 3G dropping out, I've seen it happen before as well. Not quite sure what the cause is for it, but I can tell you it has nothing to do with root or leaked Froyo. My girlfriend's stock Droid X does the same thing.

It's especially noticeable if you're driving. We were in the car yesterday headed for Six Flags here in Jersey and on 195 we were stuck in 1x for the longest time ugh. I personally however don't believe the phone is at fault. I really think its on Verizon's side, maybe work on cell towers or something? Very hard to tell without having your own dedicated 3G tower to experiment with hahaha.

I just received my replacement yesterday because mine was doing the same thing along with dropping the data connection all of the time. My replacement is loads better. I was able to get 3 bars at my doctors office this morning where my previous one couldn't even get a connection.

This one doesn't electrocute you does it?

As for the signal bouncing, the indicator seems really slow, but I think some of the funniness has to do with having wifi turned on. A 5 bar signal goes from 1 bar or 1x, and it takes a little bit for it to switch back when going back to using 3g. Same thing happens during phone calls.

So far no zapping. LOL. This one may be a good one. I just installed my Steinheil Crystal on it so it better be a food one.
It sounds exactly like what my other one was doing. I would make a call to Verizon.
