Is there an app that will silence notifications such as email and text but not phone while in the dock? Like a bedside mode or something like that?

I want my phone to still ring and the alarm to go off when needed but I always get an email in the middle of the night and it wakes me up

Thanks

there's an app called silentmode onoff in the market that gives you a little toggle. Hit that and it will put it in silent mode.

I saw that but is there a way to automatically turn it on when you put it in the dock and off when you take it out, like bedside mode on a blackberry

The released version of Locale can do this, but it's $10, and I think the "dock detector" (that's not what it's really called) is another $1.

If you have any alarms, they will still go off even if your phone is on silent/vibrate. You set the alarm notification settings and they always operate independently of the notification/phone volume settings (at least my default). I'm not sure about having the phone ring and not the notifications though, you may have to do that independently in the settings>>>sound and display>>>etc.

In terms of your alarm though, silence your phone and it will still wake you.

dubge: try a free app called quick profiles. It appears from your post that you are familiar with blackberries (as am I). This allows you to create profiles for your droid just like blackberry profiles. I also have the multimedia dock and setup a profile called "phone only" where it silences everything but the call ringer and alarms. It won't automatically set it to phone only when placing it on the dock, but I was used to changing my profiles before I went to sleep and then when I got up in the morning so it wasn't a big deal to me.
Hope this helps!

You need "bedside" it is inexpensive and does what you want. I have tried the others and this one fits the bill better.

It silences the notifications but allows the phone to ring and alarms to notify. I dock my phone at night and exit the standard clock mode and run "bedside" it has all the functions of the std on but silences the notifications.

I use autoring...it has settings to allow the phone to ring when people you select call. You can choose specific people, your contacts, or everyone. Its still silent, no notifications, but the ringer works. Essentially, it mimics "phone only" mode on the blackberry.
