Have to admit, this is one of those things that Blackberry did better 5 years ago. That said, I'm certain there must be a way to do what I'm trying to do.
I use a sound profile manager (Profile Widget) to adjust my phone's boops and beeps situationally (at work, home, in the car, etc.). What I'm trying to do is design profiles which silence some items covered under the "notification" sound but not others. In other words, every sound profile manager I've seen allows you to control "Notification Sounds" and "System Sounds," but you can't break out, for example "SMS" or "Gmail."
You can of course silence notifications app by app, but that's not helpful if you're trying to quick switch profiles. What I'm trying to do is design a work sound profile that rings the phone and bings for SMSs or Hangouts, but nothing else. Based on what I'm seeing, my options are "all notifications" (however they're set up in the apps) or "no notifications."
Any help here? Companion app I'm missing?
Thanks in advance!
Nick
