I am trying to reduce the number of irritating useless chimes on my phone. Google One is a source. Apparently Google One is a compulsory app. I do not use it. Can I stop it making my phone chime? Another source is background apps which are running without my consent. Can I stop them? I have found a list of switches for apps I wish to receive notifications from and turned them all off, but it does not silence the noise. I am running a Samsung Galaxy S7.

Welcome to Android Central! Just go to Settings>Apps, select Google One, then Notifications, and turn off the main toggle.

You can also see if you can uninstall or disable the app in that menu.

I've had in the family or used myself Samsungs starting with the SII, then S4 and then S8 to the S20 FE today, but I've never seen "Google One" on any of them.

I have always disabled the regular Google app itself on the ones I used. Can't remove, but disabling does the same thing.
