Silent - no interruptions meaning?

Sorry for this sounding a silly question, I'm new to the z3 compact pretty much. I want to turn the device on silent but it keeps showing no interruptions and indefinitely or the option to set a time.

Now by interruptions does this mean emails , texts and notifications will be blocked from coming through to me or they will all just be silenced?

They will be silenced.

If you have 5.0.2 installed, you can add a list of exceptions so it'll ring if your kids, boss, wife, ... call or text you when you're in Priority mode.

BTW, you can switch to vibrate mode by tapping on the bell icon (you don't have to adjust the volume slider).
