Sim Card Error

Our phone seems to have some system-wide problems with dropping and then having to reestablish contact with the sim card. Switching out the sim card isn't the answer and replacing the phone won't do any good either.

I just spoke to HTC and they indicated that it very certainly is a known issue that's currently being worked on. They indicated that the fix will be a pushed software update at some point in the not too distant future.

Again, I'd encourage any of you who have concerns about the sim card issue to call and/or write them to express your concern and displeasure. The more contact they have from us, the customer, the more pressure they'll put on their tech staff to resolve the problem.

If you're interested, their number is (866) 449-8358.

That's good to know it's hard for them to ignore all the chatter on the problems people are seeing, I hope they bundle a number of-fixes since whatever they release will need to go through the vZ acceptance / release process which makes soon relative.

I received my first error last evening, and my second this morning. The staff at the local Verizon store gave me a new SIM card, but after reading this, I have contacted HTC and urged them to release a fix as soon as possible.

edit: I received a response. Had been hoping for something better than this:

We do understand your concerns with the device losing connect with the SIM card and can provide some information to answer your questions.

The issue is currently under investigation. However, there is no estimated time for a resolution to be available. We would recommend that you keep watch on our website at HTC - Mobile Phones, Smartphones, Cell Phones, Tablets or our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/HTC.

Feel free to reply should you have any further questions. If you feel more comfortable discussing issues by phone, you can contact Technical Support at 1-866-449-8358, 6 am to 1 am EST, 7 days a week.

I just got off the phone with them. I had a SIM card error. The HTC person denied it was a known issue. More people need to call in and report this. I called VZW and their solution was to have the SIM card replaced

Somehow I'd find it hard to believe HTC doesn't have someone subscribed to this forum... let's see I mfg a product and there are a bunch of sites that comment on it.. would I leverage that for feedback? Service may depend on who you get on the other end of the phone, someone may have taken several calls about the sim, you might of got a newbie, regardless until a release of updates are made and fixes documented I can't see them committing to having issues, not sure what the impact to warranty would be, they certainly don't want a flight of people returning their phones (and there is no need for people to do so). They do have more issues than just the sim, there's wifi issues and the photo software needs tweaked, among others I've just not listed, I'd like to see them all addressed.

Everyone needs to contact HTC about this. It's the only way we're going to get action.

Very few companies follow the forums and social media forms that are out there. Cost issues, ya know.
