Sim Card not recognized after rear case removed

I removed the rear case of my HTC one m8 and replaced the charging board as it was damaged. After reassembly the phone works perfectly with the exception of the sim card not being recognized. I have tried inserting it many times as well as putting tape on the card to make it thicker. Nothing has worked. Please help quickly!

Have you rebooted the phone *after* inserting the SIM card?

yes I have many many times. I have also blown out the slot with compressed air. Also something i should have mentioned before, when taking off the back cover, i accidentally sliced partially through the ribbon cable for the micro-sd card reader. That shouldn't affect the sim card right? The micro sd card slot is connected to the volume buttons but they work just fine. as does everything else connected to the daughterboard. I am about to do a factory reset to see if that fixes it
