Hello all!

UPS dropped off my phones at home. One phone being upgraded is an S5. Will the S5 SIM card go into the S7? I vaguely remember when I got the S6 the SIM cards were a touch different. Is this true? Or is it a drop in and play?

Thanks!

The S5 uses a microSIM, while the S7 uses nanoSIM. So you'd need to use a SIM card cutter for your current card, or get a new SIM from your carrier.

Were the phones bought on existing lines? If so, doesn't the phone activate itself (with the included sim) once you power it on?

That may depend on the carrier. With T-Mobile, when you upgrade to a newer phone, they still include a new sim card even though all you have to do is place the sim from the old phone into the new phone. Also with T-Mobile, if the phone uses a different sim then the old phone, you can just login to your account and use the site to activate a new sim without calling in.

The OP hasn't said what carrier they are on.

The SIM card is different. I purchased both phones outright since one was not eligible. I called AT&T and got me all set up in 5 minutes. :)

I upgraded from the S5 and I had to put in a new SIM card. I was up and running in about two minutes since the new card was already ready be popped in and activated.
