I just switched from a Blackberry Curve 8900, on AT&T, to a HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T. They used my old SIM card in my new phone. Could this be causing some issues? The following things are not working properly :

1) Always fails when I try to create a Microsoft Activesync e-mail account ("Failed to create account...").
2) Installed several chat applications (trying to use my Windows Live account to chat). In Meebo, the "Unable to Authenticate: Authentication Failure" message appears when trying to connect (reconfigured several times, just to make sure password was correct).

I read (can't remember where) that these phones require a new SIM card, so as to avoid certain errors. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I used my SIM from my 3GS after it bit the dust. Everything is fine, had the phone for a little over a month now.

It may be that the Inspire might not support those apps or e-mail accounts.. idk though.

At the top of the notification bar, where it would have your signal bars, does it say H+? If not, get a new SIM.
