Simple Functions

Hi all. I'm new to Android. I've been a Blackberry user for what seems like forever. Just retired my Blackberry Tour for the Samsung Infuse. I'm on the verge of exchanging Infuse for iPhone or back to Blackberry. Need some direction from the android pros.

1. Cut and paste in sms text. The Infuse only has the option to copy the entire message. I want to copy only word(s).

2. Sending group mms. Replying to group mms.

3. Contact birthdays and anniversaries do not appear in calendar.

These functions are automatic in Blackberry. They are simple functions, but something that I use daily. If I've got to keep the phone for a year not having these basic functions will make me :'(

Believe it or not, as wonderful as it is having the larger screen, it's tougher for a woman with small hands. Boohooooo.....

I hope someone has the quick fixes for me and any info to help me make a decision.

Thanks a bunch.

1) Yes, I can only copy the entire txt. But I delete what I don't want once I do paste.
2) I can send MMS OK (one photo to multiple recipients). Have not tried the reply.
3) I keep my bdays and anniversaries in separate Google Calendars, and I can display those. To display the dates stores in your contacts directory, try this (found at another site):

Here is how you add it on:

Go to the Google Calendar web interface on your computer (google.com/calendar).

1) Click the settings button in the upper right

2) Click the “Calendars” settings tab

3) In the Other Calendars section click “Browse Interesting Calendars”

4) Click the More tab here

5) You should see an item labeled “Contacts’ birthdays and events”, click the Subscribe link. (While you’re in here, you might want to poke around. There may be some other calendars you’re interested in adding in to your own as well, such as holidays and stuff!)

That’s it! In a couple minutes, all your contact birthdays will show up on the Calendar in your phone.

When my blackberry contacts were transferred to the infuse birthdays and events were not placed on the calendar. I see birthdays in each contact profile, but nada on the calendar. I suppose I will have to go into each contact and retype birthday, etc...

Your tips worked for some events, but others it did not transfer to google/infuse.
