Simple Text icons help?

anyone got a link to an online tutorial?
i thought i was pretty smart but.....

I can't tell you about any tutorial but it took me a little while to figure out myself. The thing that snagged me is determining what element of the widget I was modifying. The tabs near the top correspond to each element. For me, this wasn't very intuitive or easy to see at first glance.
