Simultaneous Voice/Data?

Does Advance Calling hurt battery? I'm on Verizon and haven't turned it on yet. I'm assuming that means voice and data at same time but don't really need it yet or haven't

Wouldn't that be more how the phone is made vs what Verizon puts out?

Yes and Verizon has been telling manufacturers to have only one radio. They want everyone to move to VoLTE - they don't want to keep it the old way.

Yes. I really think that new Moto X Pure may be made with two radios.

I am telling you it doesn't. I have the Moto X Pure and if I put it on Verizon (which my co-worker has one on Verizon) you have to enable advanced calling.

Another thing about Advanced Calling is that it doesn't work with a Verizon Network Extender. If you have a Network Extender and turn on Advanced Calling, your calls won't go thru the Network Extender.

I use a network extender at my house and have advanced calling turned on. It works just fine.

Mine doesn't - according to Verizon, you need to disable Advanced calling: (from Register on the Network and Place a Call - Verizon Wireless Network Extender - 1X/EvDO | Verizon Wireless)
"If Advanced Calling 1.0 (VoLTE) is enabled, ensure it is disabled or turned off. "

edit...

I may have found the answer - per Verizon:

"Devices with Advanced Calling enabled will not connect to the Network Extender if there is 4G LTE signal available. In the event that your location has weak 4G LTE coverage that is causing dropped calls, you must disable Advanced Calling from your phone to permit it to connect to the Network Extender."

If you don't have (even a weak) 4G LTE signal, than it sounds like the network extender will work with Advanced Calling enabled.

That makes since. I live in the boondocks of Montucky. Without the extender I might get 1 bar at my house. We have 4G in places but I don't think we have many places with LTE out here.

Wow! I guess that's something I'll have to get used to. Smh. I still really like that phone though.

i cover the east coast for sales, have not had any dropped calls on mine and always use data at same time as a phone call. no issues here.

just got home and realized there is now 4G at my house where there was NO COVERAGE at all on monday. woohoo about dang time VZW !

That's cool!!! After I spoke with Verizon and tweaked my settings I haven't had anymore issues with dropped calls either. I do turn all of that stuff off when I'm home and using WiFi. It helps with battery life.

You know what is sad...consumers get screw in the name of technology. I have a note 3 with sprint and i can do texting waze email phone call all at the same time. For me that was a given until i decided to upgrade.mind you the use that term very loosely. I GOT MY NEW S7 guess what I sent it back thinking it was defective could not do voice and data simultaneously on sprint network (news to me). They call anything an upgrade :) back with the note 3 ..
