Since latest s8 update no longer able to connect to my S2 classic smart watch

Since the last phone update my s2 will not connect to s8. I install the up fresh and the phone dies find the watch but when the app tries to connect to a server I suppose a message saying "download failed please try again" but no matter how many times I try it won't. I have tried everything like resetting watch to clearing cache etc.. except resetting the phone which I'm reluctant to do I've tried everything. Any suggestions please.
 
No unfortunately no. I did call the Samsung helpdesk and was on the line for almost 1 hour with no solution in the end other than take the devices to a Samsung store which aren't available in my area. this post was a long shot in case someone had the same issue and a suitable solution
