When you push "ask a question" instead of a specific category there is that optional "pick a category" dropdown. It seems like the bulk of activity is in "ask a question" so wouldn't I want to select that? If I don't pick a category does the question automatically go to the "ask a question" thread?

I had an update issue with Oreo (really general android knowledge) but figured putting it in general "ask a question" would be better than putting it in 8.0 Oreo because less users were there.

"Ask a question" is the forum where either (1) questions from anonymous users get put, or (2) you don't know where else to ask.

If you can choose a better forum for your question, the answer will probably be more detailed or informative due to the users in that forum having more experience with that forum's device or topic.
