Re: Slickwraps is looking for Note 5 Reviewers
So here's my review. First I'm not affiliated with SlickWraps in any way, I'm just a regular guy who enjoys smartphones and all the stuff that goes with them. Also, I have to give a BIG shout out and THANKS to SlickWraps for offering Android Central Forum members the opportunity to receive and review their products for the Note 5. Secondly, sorry for not posting sooner, I received the Wrap several days ago, just was busy and needed to wait for a day off so I could have plenty of time to apply the skin. So here we go;
I received the product through USPS in a cushioned envelope containing a cardboard sleeve with the skin inside along with a nice screen cleaner cloth.
Application was pretty straight forward. All the pieces were easily identifiable. Be sure to start with a clean phone and take your time. I started with the front screen top and bottom pieces, then the top and bottom edges, then the left and right sides and lastly the back. (Not that it matters, just the way I approached applying the pieces.) All the pieces went on easily, they are very forgiving, so if you need to realign, you can lift them and reapply. Try not to stretch the thin pieces, as that is easy to do and work slowly. The cutouts are VERY precise and allow you to use them to align the pieces correctly. For the large back piece, I took it off the paper backing and then reapplied it to the skin leaving just the top portion with camera and flash cutout exposed off the paper. That allowed me to use the camera and flash cutout to align it without the entire back skin wanting to stick to the phone. Once I had it aligned I pulled off the remaining part from the paper backing and stuck it down.
There were a few included pieces that I did not apply and a couple that I believe are just punch outs that do not get applied.
As I stated, the pieces all went on rather easily, even considering my shaky hands. Even though the woodgrain would not have been my personal choice, it does look good and now that I have it on the phone, I like it. As for the feel, I wouldn't describe it as grippy but it does offer a very different feel and far less slippery than the glass back. As far as grip goes, with the side pieces installed, you do get much better grip on the phone. This is mostly due to the edges of the skin along the sides that provides a sharpness along their edges. Kinda hard to describe but the feeling is there.
It's an excellent product that is well designed and produced to exacting specifications. I would absolutely recommend SlickWraps to anyone looking for a skin. I've never used a skin on any of my phones before but I'm sure I will now. I'm glad I got the opportunity to try it and to share that with all of you.
