Slightly Dissappointed with LG G3 on AT&T??

Is anyone else slightly disappointed with the G3's screen? Yes, it crisp and clear but it seems dim and not as bright as my G2. I have my G3 on AT&T and I have been waiting on this device since it was announced back in May. I have the brightness set to 100% and it's still not as bright as my G2. Also there are some apps that's not "compatible" with the G3 like AT&T messages that I live by. I know there are other messaging apps but for once I liked something from AT&T.

Secondly, I'm not loving the LG User Interface out of the box. They have certain apps grouped in folders and it's really hard to find things. So, I'm going to spend a few days with it to see if it grows on me. Please share your thoughts.

It's such an upgrade over the g2,which I had for almost a year and loved as it made me forget about my previous 4 iPhone's. So yeah,in the 24 hours I've had the phone I am stoked.

It's certainly a more muted display. My last two phones were Samsung Amoled screens (GS 2 and GS III) so I'm really used to blindingly bright oversaturated colors (much like the G2) so its taking a bit of getting used to. That said my GS III at full brightness was so over saturated it was nearly painful to look at bright reds and greens. I put my G3 next to my dads GS5 (we're gadget nerds) and his display is a bit like looking into the surface of the sun. The sharpening on the G3 screen when you notice it is way overdone. I hope they tone that back in a software update but overall I'm pretty happy with the screen, the switch from Amoled to LCD slowly adjusting to.

I'm actually pretty happy with the skin LG gave us. As I said I'm used to Samsung where I have to spend days sorting it all out and getting rid of tool tips and gimmicks I'll never use. The features all seem pretty logical and not quite as overwhelming so I really like their simplifications. I used to run Apex launcher on my G3 for the customization options so I'm really happy to see LG has built a lot of those things in. I do wish I had a brightness slider instead of a tap button in the Notification tray though.

Overall I'm pretty happy. Not blown away but still very happy. These days a phone would really have to do something revolutionary to completely blow my mind so Happy is about the best one can hope for.

I have my brightness set to 50% which is what I use on my devices. It is a tad dimmer but very readable. If battery life is above 25% at the end of my day I may increase it but not by much. The stock messaging app is working fine for me but I have also used hangouts.

I also did not like the UI at first coming from a Nexus 5 and Moto X which is close to stock. All the bloat blew my mind and all the settings seems gimmicky. After two days I am liking it better. The camera has really blown me away coming from recent mediocre cameras.

I had also forgotten how handy SD card are since I have not had on in a while. I loaded all my music onto a 64GB card that I had. I keep all my music on google play music for my non sd card devices .

Still not 100% I will keep it but I like it more today than when I got it two days ago. Still have till July 22nd to return if I do not keep it.

As far as the apps go, I've downloaded the 1 mobile app store into my phone which has given me access to the incompatible apps. 1 mobile is actually really good and reliable and offers Pretty much every android app I've searched for.

Why is there no brightness slider???
I love it but disappointed at some simple things excluded from g2. First home screen won't go to landscape mode, that sucks in my car. Second there's not as much customization as far as app icons, I liked making certain ones large like alarm and poweramp. Finally why no stock flashlight widget????

I watched a YouTube video side by side with my One X, and the One X screen is a lot better. Also having major syncing and notification issues across a number of apps.

Why does my Gmail on my One X have a Swipe to Delete option, but on the G3 it's Swipe to Archive? Same version of Gmail.

Thats a setting in Gmail. You have to change it within the gmail app.

You have to boost the brightness % about 10% higher than the G2 to match the brightness, but it still has a dim whitepoint somehow in comparison.

Well that's it for me. I'll definitely be taking this back on Monday. It's a shame because it's an amazing design and hardware. The screen just kills it for me. It's like the current apps look dim and muted (i.e. Gmail) I guess because they were not designed for such high resolution. But the stock LG apps look much better. I'll just save my upgrade for something else down the road.

Coming from the Note 3 there is a noticeable difference but nothing I can't live with .

Well guys I hate to say it but I feel the same way. Just picked up a LG g3 on at&t yesterday and I came from an s5. I'm going back to my s5 today. I just don't like the screen at all. I'm pretty disappointed. Usually I give the phone at least a week but in this case I just can't stand it. Its a damn shame because it's such a nice phone. But different strokes for different folks right.

I agree. I'm going back to G2 and save upgrade for another time. I really do love the phone and if I wasn't married with a kid on the way, I wouldn't care I can't justify paying the extra cash when my g2 is still a beast as it is.

Isn't that ironic? LG HAD to have the screen with the ridiculously high resolution and now people are complaining about one of it's top selling features. I think LG made a misstep thinking everyone wanted a QHD screen. This phone with the LG2 screen would have been so much more attractive.

It's hard to judge by the forums. A lot of people come on to talk about problems they are having with the phone. I have both the M8 and G3, and honestly, you can't really go wrong with either phone. My advice would be to head into a store and hold the phone in your own hands for a bit to see how you like it. Perhaps do a side by side comparison of it with your M8. For me, it's safe to say that the G3 will be my daily driver for the foreseeable future. I'm in the process of writing a review for it, but I need a bit more time with the phone. I enjoy the screen, battery life has been good so far, and the camera is fantastic when compared with my M8 and Nexus 5. This is also the first phone I've had in a while that I have immediately thrown Nova Launcher on (though I'll probably do that soon). Like I said, you really can't go wrong either way.

You opted for nova on your m8? And you next first phone that you have not immediately put nova on right?

Yeah. I put Nova on my M8 right away (mostly due to habit). On the G3, I decided to give LG's UI a chance. So far I am enjoying it. The level of customization is greater than any other manufacturer skin that I have used before. Eventually I will switch to Nova because I prefer the look that is closer to stock Android, but the G3's UI has pleasantly surprised me.
