Slow after 100 apps and 2 months of use!

I love my EVO! It was very fast and snappy when I first got it.

I've installed probably about 150 apps, and uninstalled 50, leaving about 100.

It does seem slower, especially after I click the share button in the gallery, waiting for the list of apps like gmail, etc. show.

In browsing around my SD card, there was one thumbnails folder with 1500 thumbs.

So, what's the most likely cause of the slow share list of apps thing?

Do I have too many apps?

Is it something else?

I'm willing to do a clean wipe in a few days when I get froyo, but I don't want to repeat the same mistakes (assuming installing too many apps is the issue).

All thoughts would be very much appreciated,

Thanks,
Mike

I have noticed a lag when opening the bookmarks. When I press to open them, it takes around 2 seconds for them to finally show up.

Still love the phone but wondering what I can do to speed it up

Step 1: Wait a week until you have official Froyo update from Sprint
Step 2: Come back and go "OMG MY PHONE IS SO MUCH FASTER NOW"
Step 3: Problem Solved.

You might want to see how much memory you have left. If you've sucked up too much with large apps that could slow down your phone.

Same here. It's definitely not related to memory as I have done a factory reset and noticed the same behavior with the bookmark lag.

are you talking about free space on the sd card, or "internal memory"?

My advanced task killer says available: 60M

Thanks,
Mike

I have only 10 or so apps and I've never noticed this. I use systems panel to free up memory.

Mine was slowing down cause of memory issue but it usually gives me a memory almost full notification when this happens. I did notice though that my SMS with some contacts were huge. I deleted those larger threaded one and some apps and it seems to be back to normal.

the list of apps on the 'share' popup is now instant on froyo on my evo

just wanted to follow up with everyone

Froyo did help, but it seems like my EVO has generally slowed down.

Sometimes, the drag down of the notification bar will pause midway, and other random non-responsive things.

Are there any system maintenance tweaks I can do? (On a windows pc, I'd defrag, delete temp files, etc.).

Are there cache files that should be purged, or other tasks to speed things along?

Thanks,
Mike
