hi.
i just bought an original HTC car charger:

i did this especially after some disconnecting issues with non original cables.

so how come i suddenly get the slow charge icon every time?
this is pathetic because i never got slow charge icon with all the non original cables till today!
this deeply annoys me so please someone explain :-*

thanks.

Could you provide the charger's model number? Or if you know, the Amp output rating? If this is a 'standard' car charger outputting 0.5A then I think that's why your phone shows the slow charging warning. Have you tried using the same charger but with a different cable?

i need to check in the car.
so you're saying that even an original HTC car charger pack
can be slow charging??
i mean, it comes with a cable.. that's the main reason i needed it,
so i'll have a good original trusty cable :(

If the charger itself has a lower current output, yup, it would slowly charge your device (0.5A is not a lot these days). But it could be a faulty cable as well. I would try the charger with a different cable and also the HTC cable with a different charger. Try to isolate which one of the two pieces of this puzzle is not working properly.

from the shop i bought it from it says:
5V 1000MA
and they also claim it's a fast one.
i'll show them a fast one..

It's a 1A charger then. Not the fastest, but not the slowest and I'm not sure that should be low enough to warrant a slow charge warning.
If you go to the Battery report, does it say AC Charging when connected to the charger or USB Charging?

Do you have the M7 or M8?
Ive seen a number of M7 with data port issues and it causes the unit to only charge via USB which limits current to 500mAh.
When you plug in your charger do you get a message at the top of your phone screen saying something about slow charging?

From a friend, he says that if it's the M7, heat might be an issue too, which kinda makes sense inside a car.

not sure it's the phone itself guys, or heat issue (M7)
when i connect at home (not even original HTC charger), charge is fast and perfect, been for a year (AC)
it only started to happen now and only in the car, when the phone is far from hot,
and only with this original car charger (+cable) i just bought..
(after i read that they specifically said this is a FAST charger) -
but i connected the phone in the car to the previous charger with the NEW cable, and still got the slow charge warning.... so.... :-\

OK, now try the old cable with the new charger. Does that help? If so, it's a faulty cable or it only has data pins (which would cause it to charge as a normal USB port, with 0.5mAh)

yes, but how come they put a data cable in a specific car charging bundle??
they suppose to go together just for charging...

well,
i've talked to them and it appears it's just the outdated cable.
tried with my home cable and it's fine.
they'll send me a new cable.
thanks for helping.

Glad to see you at least pinpointed the problem. Now let's hope the new cable does resolve things. :)

well yea, i know the reason now.
but just today i woke up and the phone suddenly had slow charge message!
so i guess it's ALSO the phone micro USB port starts showing some defects?
is there a quick way to improve it's functionality?

If it's not charging properly, not really... this is hardware we're talking about. I'd just get the whole thing replaced then. Shame on you HTC re-seller, you're selling outdated stuff!

i think you misunderstood..
my USUAL home charger and cable (more than a year now),
suddenly started sending slow charge warning...
so maybe my M7 is getting "old" ?

Oh, OK... wow, now I'm kinda thinking your battery might need replacement :S it's an M7 though, it's not that old...

wait a minute...
so you think an occasional "slow charge" notification is due to faulty battery?
i thought the MicroUSB connector in the phone was the reason.
