Slow charging + "Media" Battery drain

Thank you oh thank you! I know this thing has been burning up sd cards, but this battery drain thing was stumping me. Pulling the card out. (All micro SD cards have been Sandisc class 10 from Costco. 3 so far.)

I found the solution for my SGS 3. About 2 weeks I decided to install 'Mobo Video Player Pro' player from the Play Store to see some videos (actually didn't work but I left the app anyway). I had a card crash/battery issue by then but I did not relate the installation at the time. I went an acquire another card and as soon as I had it inserted the phone got hot on the location of the card and the battery went to almost none in a few hrs. When the card was out I had no problems. I tried the suggested option of Settings/Developer options/ Protect SD card but it did not help. By then I remembered about the Mobo app and removed it. Since then, card is fine, battery is fine.
I hope this may help others with this issue.

After spending days, going thru various forum, figuring what really drains off my SIII battery (indicated as Android media process) and hassling of deleting files, I simply remove my SD card and viola!...
..the heating stops and the battery conserved! Thanks God!
After all, a micro card is heating the earth! I can live without the SD...enough with built in memory.

I have been trying to debug this too. Check out my Amazon link....just posted. Not sure if this applies to all of us but it definitely applied to me. Maybe you guys would like the battery too (7000 mah !! yikes).

I think that all the programs that have been identified by users and deleted and taken off the phone to fix the battery drain issue may in fact not be at fault but may be experiencing a disruption to their open-files due to a rapid power down when the files they were using were left open when the battery was pulled out. If it really were the particular program identified in so many cures then all of us would be experiencing the exact same problem...but ... we're not. Its a different piece of software each time. Seems to be MediaServer most often. A common problem like this may be why so many programs seem to being blamed. It depends on what was running when the file system disruption occurred. This of course includes the flash memory stick. If the problem was/is a corrupted file system on the SD card then of course taking it out would 'fix' the battery drain thing as the software using it wouldn't be able to try to fix it's problem. Who knows though, this is only a current best guess.

As a final thought: If the flash disk or internal memory needs to be fixed - really - then its probably best to leave the phone plugged in and let 'mediaserver' or whatever program that is responsible fix it if that is what it is doing. Then, the problem could be fixed and the program doing the fixing would no longer need to perform its 'fixing'.
