Slow charging

It happens to me when I plug in my mophie juice pack. And yes, it charges slow as sh!t.

I use my husband's note 2 charger, my old sk4g charger, chargers from my older android devices, and while they all charge the phone, it gives me the alert and I believe it does charge at a slower rate. Sometimes moving outlets works, but not always. Neither does restart/reboot.

Slow Charging happens only when I'm plugged into the car charger. Started after update.

I'm really hoping its a software problem and not a hardware problem that can fixed with a future update. Its really obnoxious

It probably has something to do with this. When you don't see the notification (i.e. slow charging), it means it's using the quick charge tech.

What's hard to understand, though, is why we are noticing these changes SINCE the update and not before.
I tried something new today. Still was getting the 'slow charge' notice when I would plug my DNA into the car chargers (2 different ones) that previously charged my phone just fine. These car chargers are ones that have both a USB charge port and a regular plug for a wall charger. I took my wall charger with me today and plugged that into the charger. Of course it's got it's own converter. The phone charged just fine.

have you tried using a wireless charger?

Well - I'm trying to charge in the car-didn't really want to have to buy a separate charger for the car when I've already got functioning car chargers that charge other devices; I think the OP is having troubles with wall chargers, but I'm not. Interestingly, over the weekend I tried charging my Nexus 7 tablet with the same car charger and it charged just fine. And as I've previously said, this same car charger would charge my DNA just fine prior to the update.

This happens to me when using my car charger/cradle, the ibolt one for the DNA. Doesn't always happen but when it does it is just with that one charger. I actually lost charge while it was plugged in with Bluetooth on and navigation going, never had another phone do that, so the message is legit and it does charge really slow.

My oem charger has bit the dust. I don't know how, but the cord has quit charging consistently, seems to be shorted out somehow. I am now using my husband's usb cord (note 2) with the oem wall adapter. Charges fine, however, I still have the issue with plugging into a car/ any other adapter.

I went into a Verizon store and asked them to bring chargers out to my car to determine whether they would charge the phone or not. Very frustrating - their charger charged just fine, whereas mine would not (these chargers still charge everything else I & 3 other family members use).
I wanted to be sure I found a portable source that would absolutely charge this phone, as I'm taking several weeklong trips soon and did not want to suffer through a depleted battery while traveling through airports. They showed me a portable charger that would actually charge the phone & so I caved and paid store price right then and there rather than searching on Amazon (which I later found out sells it at half the price; but I didn't want to wait and buy it from Amazon and then find out it also wouldn't charge).

So I've got a portable charger at a rather excessive price for when I'm away from a wall charger.

I have the same issue with my HTC DNA. first off it only would do it when I used the car charger, now it does it when using the original charger that came with the phone. Frustrating and annoying! Hope ya find an answer cuz I also would like to know!

I've also noticed that when the message pops up in notification bar , if I unplug it and plug it back in a few times it won't pop back up. Weird

If you have a rooted DNA and are having the charging issues , then you may need to change kernels as that is what causes this . Beaups kernel always says slow charging if you are not plugged into a wall charger but in fact it has fast charge . But it works .

I have unrooted Samsung Galaxy S4 and I am getting the same error as well. It says to use charger that came with phone and that's what I am using. Please help.

I was recently having the same problem with the stock charger. Cleaning charging port fixed the problem. The narrow area between between the pin support and port wall was packed with debris. This prevented the charged plug from fully seating in the port. I went to the hardware store and a got a small piece of music wire that fit in this thin area. The wire is smaller than the diameter of a sewing pin. I used the wire to pick the debris out of the slot. The plug now fully seats and the slow charging warning no longer shows up with the charger that came with phone.
