Slow Charging

Noticed the other day the charger going into the socket was really hot

Now noticed it's slow charging. An app Whuh tells me the current charge was always 1800MA but was only charging at 1200 and nowe it's only 1000MA

Have tried a new charger but that still says 1200 and real slow

Any idea what's gone wrong

Welcome to Android Central! What exactly was getting hot? The wall plug or the part of the cable that plugs into the phone? Make sure you've tried a different USB cable and wall plug, since either of them can become faulty. If that doesn't help, then it may be the phone's microUSB port that got damaged.

Yes it was the part of the cable into the phone
I've tried different usb cables but will.only charge at 1200

Do you charge or use your phone abnormally etc.. Charging 2 or more times a day.

No just normally once and then overnight

Shall I try a new battery? If that doesn't work will I need to send it off for repair and what would need repairing?

New battery still charges slowly

It sounds like you've narrowed it down to an issue with the charging port.

So got no choice but sends it back to Samsung for repair?

Probably. You could also bring it to a local repair shop and see if they can give you an estimate.
