Slow download speeds with Google pixel xl on sprint lte network

I have the Google pixel xl and I activated it with sprint. Everything works except I only get about 1.5mbps download speed with the lte. They tell me it has to be something with them not selling the phone and it just using their network. Has anyone else had problems with slow data speeds?

I have my Pixel XL on Project Fi. Most often my phone connects with T-Mobile, and not very often to Sprint. However, I can definitely tell the difference. When my phone feels laggy, and I check to see which service it's using, it's Sprint. I don't know why this is, but I do know it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that Sprint doesn't sell the phone, because T-Mobile doesn't sell it either and the phone works great when it's on T-Mobile's network.
