Slow Homescreen [October Update: freezing getting worse!]

When I return to the home screen (using either the home button or the back button) it'll either take a good 15-20 seconds before it loads (I'll just see my wallpaper), or I'll get "Activity Home (in process android.process.acore) is not responding." And gives me the option for force close or wait. I wait and then the screen will appear...eventually. I have 185MB available space on my phone storage (809MB on my SD card) if that matters. I have advanced task killer and the screen will happen even if I've killed anything running in the background.

yea, I'm getting this, too. I'm hoping it will improve once we finally get Froyo. We'll see. One of these days (when eligible) I'll upgrade to something with a faster processor.

It's even worse now. The entire phone in any given app will take a minute or more to do anything. These are the apps I have on my phone:

ChompSMS
SwiftKey
Pandora
RetroCamera
Barcode scanner
ESPN Fantasy app
Seesmic
Facebook
Advanced tasked killer
Boothdroid
DoodleJump

I've deleted others just to see if it would work any better, and it gets no better. I have 772MB available on my SD card and 196MB on my phone storage. What gives??
