I've been pretty impressed with the camera quality on the 6P and love the slow motion video capability. (I'm easily impressed coming from a Nexus 5 😂)

Just wondering if there is a way to record a video at normal speed, slow it down at one moment, and then go back to normal speed again like the newer iPhone models can?

Yup! Make sure your Google Photos app is up to date via the Play Store, and open up a slow-motion video. There should be two bars - one is playback, the other is speed where the more spaced-out dashes are the slower portions of the video. It even does sound too!

Has anybody successfully shared/exported the edited video to include the breaks in slow motion? Whenever I try to export/share/upload a video and view it (on my computer for example), the whole video is just in slow motion. Do I need to save it again somehow?

I don't think so. I believe the on/off slow motion is only within Google's ecosphere. Once you start dealing with a file off the device, the entire thing is 120/240 FPS, and by default a player is going to play it a 30 FPS.

Ok... I was able to do this in iMovie by just splitting the clip up and using the speed editor on the pieces wanted to assign normal speed to (800% for 240fps; 400 for 120). I have yet to try it on decent quality clips as it has been dark here all day, but the audio sync seems good on the adjusted clips.

I'll upload a sample as soon as I see the sun again (might be a few days though).

It's a solution, but its way too complicated.. We should be able to capture a video that has slow motion parts mixed in with normal speed, and do it all natively on the phone itself, and not needing to resort to exporting to another device to get the job done..

For know I'm waiting for a decent third party app that can do this.. Anyone?

I suspect we'll see an update to the player/editor to allow for this soon... It's a new camera feature, remember.
