Exactly!
I dont see why people are surprised by the low number sales.
They didnt advertise the phone.
The phone isnt in stores.
There isnt a Nexus One bill board on every street corner!
I really think Google would be dumb to not put this phone in the stores, eventually. IMO.
Don't forget Google foolishly announcing upcoming availability on VZW... the VZ fanbois certainly are waiting now... Some may have jumped ship to T-Mo, but no chance with the premature announcement...
Big mistake to release it on a single carrier to start out. Should have been released across the board of US carriers IMHO.
ideally, yes... but announcing it early for other networks was a dumb move...
they showed their cards way too early...
Oh I totally agree. I may have bit to get a unlocked device to use on AT&T but now I'm holding off to wait for Verizon to check it out.
my point exactly... you and THOUSANDS of others are patiently WAITING... because they KNOW it's coming...
I bet they would at least have been double if not triple...
So say 40,000 now you are talking a bit better and even tripled you are talking MyTouch 3G numbers at 60,000. Mediocre at best. Trust me I want to see this device do well as it has a ton of potential. Hope things turn around quickly.
Give it time. These things sometimes take a while to get going. Once other carriers come on board sales will begin to rocket.
Plus with the addition of other devices to the Google Phone site sales will also increase.
I still think they should have gone with a two tiered sales option of either buying directly through the Google Phone web site or through the carriers directly - I think sales would have kicked off a lot faster if they had gone that route.
Phil.

Once the N1 launches into stores and is available on every plan, I think it'll sell. When it launches on Verizon it'll steal the Droid's spotlight for good.
Here's my take...
In Brief:
1. They launched it on the wrong network. T-Mobile? Pshh, please. If they would have launched the CDMA version on Verizon, I guarantee you we would be seeing a whole different picture. It would have been a 2nd success for Google (Droid being 1st in Nov.). They wouldn't have had the 3G or network problems.
2. Marketing was terrible! Had it been marketed as well as the Moto Droid was, we would have seen a better chance of success. There's no reason this phone shouldn't have done twice as well as the Droid did in the first week! It's pretty sad when the Droid did better, c'mon!
They should have released the CDMA version first. Have it available for buyout, and Verizon as the first carrier to offer it. Then later release the GSM for AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.
I haven't personally seen ANY television ads for the Nexus One. And I work in TV, I watch TV 9 hours a day, 5 days a week. I saw a ton of Droid ads in November and December and I'm still seeing some.
