Smart lock not working Pixel 3A

I bought a Pixel 3A , running on Android 9, last week. Easy to set up and transfer stuff from my other phone, (except music, which didn't transfer). But the smart lock does not work. I have set it to work at home and it says it is a trusted place. But every time I have left it for more than half an hour, I have to use my pin to get into it. I've looked at various supposed solutions online, and none of them have worked. Any ideas please.

As above, but at least GPS or wifi previously connected and setting up to auto connect when in range. Never hurts to clear the cache partition and reboot while you are at it. Good luck

Smart Lock is squirrelly at best. I've never had consistent results with it on any of my Pixel or Nexus devices. Doesn't really bother me now since it is very easy to unlock the phone with fingerprint.

I've had the same experience. Most of the time it does not work at home. But the on-body detection seems to work.

Only time is use it is when in the car connected to my cars Bluetooth.
