Smart lock - trusted places

You got really lucky!

don't I know it, and get this... the finder was a tall, built, gorgeous hunk of a man. got my phone and a voluntary hug because I was so shaken. he was a sweetheart, very married, and way too young for me... sigh

I actually turned it off because I can unlock the phone faster with the fingerprint sensor than having it unlocked, and doing the swipe thing.

however, on my s8, for some reason it didn't work until I went outside and let it find my location. you can also have it unlock on your wifi network.

Trusted places is hit or miss for me. So frustrating because I don't want to have a lock, but I want to use fingerprints to sign into websites and you can not do that if you don't have a secure lock screen

Hopefully trusted devices will work when I get my Galaxy watch next week, the note 8 and gear sport were good for that, so I'm hopeful

Did you ask if he had a single dad? LOL

Waze locates my house within 25 feet. Doesn't make sense that Samsung can't do the same.

That rules out not using a lock screen for me, even when I'm home. Trusted devices works great though.

It's so weird on my s8 and my note 9 trusted places wouldn't work for me at home . It kept getting my address wrong. Now it's working flawlessly on my n10.

I used to toggle it on/off, do a GPS update of my location, add a second one...with my 10+ I kept it off and used a Bixby routine (doesn't require you use the voice assistant). It has been flawless at unlocking my phone at home for convenience, and in my car when connected to bluetooth. Locks otherwise.

It works for me, but it is very temperamental.
Downstairs it was fine, but when I'm in my bedroom wasn't.
I added a location for when I'm upstairs, that worked too.

would you mind sharing how you setup BR to accomplish this please? the actual routine steps? thank you.

Trusted places works fine for me. I guess it depends on how accurate GPS is in your area. I know in past devices there was a way Recalibrate the gps from a hidden menu but not sure if that will work.

I've had that problem a few times here. For example, my GPS keeps insisting that I am on the H1, but in fact I am on Nimitz. For a couple miles, the H1 is directly over Nimitz Hwy, but 40 feet or so higher. There are also errors in Google's location databases, it becomes especially noticeable here on O'ahu because of how our addresses work (we use dashes in our street numbers and guttural stops (i.e. ') in our street names), then throw in the fact that the majority of our business and residential address share common street addresses.

That is why I use trusted devices instead. It is a WHOLE lot more reliable than using trusted locations.

You ought to hear Google Maps or Apple Maps pronounce, "Kalanianaʻole Highway."

what kinds of devices are trusted? I thought sure my other Samsung device would be considered trusted - my Samsung Tablet - but it wouldn't even show up to select. is it looking for wifi, bt, location info (it was on), what? this is a very confusing concept apparently.

Essentially any BT device. I have my Samsung Gear Sport and the BT adapter in my car as trusted devices.

You have to pair the device and then maintain that BT connection. I don't think it uses WiFi.
