Smart Lock

I have an S7 with 8.0 Oreo. Are problems with Smart Lock a known issue? I have my home address in Trusted Places (underneath it says from google maps) but I think the smart lock works 5% of the time. Usually it still asks for my pin. My location accuracy is all calibrated and set to high. I have not tried the on-body detection. This is not a new issue with Oreo for me it has always behaved this way.

Any tips to get this to work properly are much appreciated.

No GPS is on. It is a coincidence because I just got a popup about Smart Lock and how it uses my home location with the "got it" or "dismiss" dialogue. I thought great they updated it but it is still not working properly.

Try to make your home wifi a trusted device.
You may want to clear your cache partition and reboot.

Okay thank you, you inadvertently led me to my problem; me not using the feature correctly. I googled trusted devices for android because all I had for my wifi was "auto connect." Only option I could find was "Trust agent (smart lock)" which was turned to on.

Anyway before I even found the trust agent option the thread I stumbled on that thread:

If you lock the screen with the power button or double tap (if used), it will have be unlocked the next time you pick it up.
If you let it lock itself/screen goes off on its own, it will be unlocked when you pick it up and activate it with the power button or home button.

That was my problem. I kept testing it and would lock the phone with the button so it'd ask for a PIN. If I just let it lock itself smart lock works fine.

Is there an option to mark this thread as solved/answered?

I can't find an area anywhere to assign my wifi as a trusted device.

Okay no that wasn't it maybe it got updated (because I had that tutorial screen when I was in Settings>Smart Lock). Or I did something with the trusted location map. I don't know.

I can push power to lock and smart lock will still work. Whatever, it works, thanks I did not know about Trust Agents.

Can I close a thread or mark it as "solved" or do we just leave them?

This does/ did not help me

My device does not open any longer with OK Google any of them

My Samsung tablet won't do it -my phone
They used to but no longer and all my settings are turned on correctly and yes I let them go off by themselves
