The only smart settings that work for me are "When at home". The "When away from home" settings never activate, no matter how far away I am from home. Anyone else having trouble getting their's to work properly?

Do you happen to have the location settings turned on to high accuracy (gps)? I remember when I set up mine, the phone gave me a warning saying it had to be high accuracy for smart setting to work.

I do. Randomly, today was the first time the away from home settings worked, but only activated about 3 miles away from my house :/

Download Llama from the Play Store. It's free and a lot more functional than LG's half assed "smart" settings.

I haven't tried using the smart setting with locations. I don't really want my phone detecting my location as much unless I'm using navigation apps.

Have any of you experience turning off the setting but it still turns off? I've turned on the "When earphones plugged in" before and set it to launch the Play Music app, then Poweramp. But I can't really appreciate the sound quality of the phone so I turned it off. Even if it's turned off, it still opens Poweramp even if it's off. I've tried to uninstall Poweramp and of course, it stopped opening but when I reinstalled the app, it's back to opening the app.

I tried to turn it back on and change the setting to open Messaging instead of Music and it opened both Messaging and Poweramp. It's nice that it now opens two apps and all but it's not what I want.

I just looked at Llama, but after I read the Permission list, decided not to...why do these apps need access to so much of my private info, that seems irrelevant to what it should need to do its job? I would rather pay for an app that has few permissions than a free one that snoops around my phone this much. Can't believe I'm the only one.

You're completely and one hundred and ten percent paranoid. These apps don't snoop around your phone. The permissions are what they are so that you can have a variety of conditions to trigger more rules. The app isn't doing anything that you don't tell it to do.

And what paid app are you referring to? Tasker? Which also has a long list of permissions which is needed so that you can make it do all that it's capable of.
