Smart view question with Samsung TV / Kodi app

I am using kodi on my S7 edge and use smartview to watch it on my Samsung Smart TV. It connects fine but as soon as I turn my phone screen off the TV signal also goes. Is there any way around this. On my iPhone I used casting apps to cast videos, is this possible with kodi?

Because you are screen mirroring vs casting like with Google Chromecast the TV is relying on your phone for the video feed vs Chromecast going out and getting the feed and playing it on the actual Chromecast. You will have to leave the screen on in order to watch Kodi. Kodi does not have a Chrome cast feature.
