SmartSwitch: useful hints and guidance to avoid issues?

lol,
I just asked what cable to use to transfer from old phone to new phone.
can I just use the phone cord and plug in each end to each phone?

I know probably dumb question.
Yeah if it's Samsung usb c to Samsung usb c otherwise a iPhone need OTG adapter

what is the best SOP for moving over Secure Folder contents from our current phones to the new phones? I hope it's not moving data OUT of secure folder because then we'll never find that data amongst tens of thousands of other files on the device.

Pc smart switch, and do a back up in secure folder to Samsung account , both ways to be safe

Agreed. Use the cable, don't use wifi and you'll be fine.
Is there a step by step?

When you turn on new phone what things do you do BEFORE using Smart Switch with USB c cable?

Do I sign in to Gmail on new phone before using SmartSwitch or skip ALL the setup steps before using SmartSwitch?

So here is what I did yesterday and it was by far my best SmartSwitch experience/transfer ever:

1. Switched my SIM card into my S22 Ultra immediately, from my S21 Ultra, before turning on the S22 Ultra.
2. Used the cable that came in the box of the S22 Ultra to do the transfer, which seemed thicker than most of the Samsung cables I've had (I'm assuming this is a good thing).
3. Went through the initial process of connecting to Wi-Fi on my S22 Ultra.
4. Then I went right to the SmartSwitch transfer on both devices. I chose to transfer all.
5. EVERYTHING transferred over for me with the exception of my bookmarks on the Samsung internet browser. The apps on my home screen transferred over perfectly, even the phone remembering my saved Wi-Fi networks.

did it save your application passwords? Or did you have to enter passwords for applications again?

Excellent question. I didn't do a great job using the Google password manager, so it only saved about a third of my passwords. Just went in individually to each app and logged in.

If you have advice on how to transfer passwords over in the future please let me know.

I use a cable between new and old phones or to a PC or the setup below to create an encrypted back up which does save the passwords for me.

If your unlocked on Tmobile, do you install the tmobile app, scam shield, tmobile Tuesdays and visual voicemail? Or, do you keep the bloatware off for a cleaner Android experience?
Depends if you want those apps or not. If you are using them for sure it's good to download them. The only carrier app I need is the T-Mobile main app for checking my account and other details. Rest I don't want.
