sms autofill?

When I try to compose a new sms and begin typing the name of the person in my address book the phone tries to sms the name I just typed out as if it were the actual number. Is there a way to turn on a feature that will allow me to type the name of who I want to text and the phone will pull the contact info from the address book? Currently I'm composing through the address book.

that's weird, when i start typing a name in the send field it populates the list with possible contacts, then i just select one and it chooses their number...

Odd. I just tried typing in a name and one of my contacts showed up. It seems that only contacts synced through facebook are appearing in the auto fill.

After looking over my contacts I noticed that I had everyone's number set to a home number but when I changed it to a mobile number it showed up as an option in the sms field. Hope this helps anyone having a similar issue.
