SMS Jumping to random texts

I tried looking this up but couldn't find it... I have a friend who has the same issue as well so I'm sure we're not the only two people with this problem

Does anyone else seem to have a problem when they're texting and they press the name of someone let's say "x" it will open the text for person "y"? Sometimes I tap on someone name and it will show me a text from someone else, and that other someone is NOT above or below that text, it's a complete different threat somewhere else on my phone....

any thoughts?

You are not alone. I've seen this is well have no idea what the problem is or the solution. It is rather random and annoying when it happens.

Don't know if it will fix it, but have you tried screen calibration?

Are you using the stock messaging app or something else?

Same problem here. Using stock message app. I wonder if people have this problem with messaging apps in the market. I have sent out messages to the wrong people plenty of times, especially when i'm in a rush. Luckily none of them were offensive messages. Its tough to see who your sending the message to sometimes when you're in a rush, for me I don't get to see the picture or name i'm sending the message to because the keyboard hides that. But i've made it a point now to look at EVERY message I send...just in case.

same here i even tried wiping it twice and still happens...

Hard reset will not fix this problem. It still does it on mine after a hard reset.
Its a known issue that been addressed on several different boards.

I use stock messages and handcent... as already mention stock will do it more often than handcent

Calibration will not fix it because as I said before it's not about who's above or below the person you click, but rather someone random...

I downloaded handscent and so far so good. Actually a great little message app. not sure why I didn't download this before. Hopefully this solves the problems.

Mine did this as stock, and still sometimes does it on my CM6.1 using Handcent... no idea whats up.

mine's been doing this for a while.

last night i accidentally told a friend that her birthday present finally arrived---only to realize it was the wrong friend (who also happens to have a birthday 2 days later than the intended recipient)===crap.

after that lengthy apology, i'm definitely on the lookout for a fix to this issue.

I downloaded handscent and so far so good. Actually a great little message app. not sure why I didn't download this before. Hopefully this solves the problems.

It does it less than the stock, but you will still run into the problem in handcent
