So I'm seriously considering this watch (think I'm over the scratching issue), but now I'm concerned that I'll be forced to use ONLY Samsung's text app. Is this true?

I currently use Textra and Pulse. Anyone know if they can be used on the Frontier by chance?

When a notification comes in (I use the Google messages app) I get a notification. From that notification I can only read. If I click reply, it just says open on phone.. Of I want to reply, I need to go into the message app on the watch, then select the person, then reply.

Oh... Hmm can't reply directly from the watch huh? That seems very limiting. Now I may have to go back to the drawing board again to find a compelling reason to purchase this thing.

You can, but not directly from the notification. On the watch, you have to go into the messaging app, then you can reply.. very odd indeed.

Oh I misunderstood! I read that as I'd have to open the text app on the phone, but now I see what you mean. Still seems like unnecessary steps, might be faster to reply on the phone lol.

Thx for clarifying.

Textra allows you to respond directly from the notification. I previously just used the standard Google messenger on my 6P so had to download Textra and it works just fine. Otherwise it is odd that you can go to the "stock" messenger to do replies but can't from the notification. So Textra works just fine. Haven't tried anything else other than Textra.

Awesome thanks for checking!

That seals the deal for me. Definitely getting one now! Thinking BT only. Not really sure LTE is necessary.

Yeah, I don't use it as a standalone a ton but I think I will use more once Spotify becomes available. Not sure if I'll load music directly to it or not. Isn't a ton of free space on the S3 so ideally I could use Spotify instead of loading music.

I keep hearing about Spotify, but wouldn't Pandora work on it?

Def think you'll like the watch. Build quality seems top notch to me. Had several people comment on how nice it looks. I've been a fan of wearable tech, this is my 4th watch now, and it's my favorite so far. Only real downside vs Android wear in my opinion is the app store has less things obviously. However, I didn't really use a ton of those outside the standard ones anyway so not a huge deal. Just nice to have the increased options.

Well Spotify is supposed to be coming as an app for the watch. So with the LTE you would be able to play Spotify while it's a standalone device. Then I'd be able to leave phone behind for workouts, walking dogs, bike ride, etc without having to actually download music directly to the watch.

Very cool. Can't wait to try it out.

Handcent works as well.
