SMS/MMS Messages

I've recently learned that I cannot receive MMS but I can send them. I uninstalled ATK and AVG to see if maybe those apps were the problem. Now, I can send SMS but they appear with an envelope beside the message. After clicking the envelope it opens to say that the status is "pending." Any solution to the MMS problem or SMS pending? Also, the SMS still sends because I'm getting responses to my SMS messages.
