SMS not working well on AT&T

I'm having a few issues with my Huawei P10.

FB Messenger receives text messages, but they quickly disappear from the app. Huawei told me it was an issue with the bands supported by the phone and my carrier -- I don't think that's right because it looks like my phone supports all the bands for AT&T.

Also, SMS and MMS is behaving strangely. SMS messages can arrive out of order (it can take a long time for some messages to arrive). Group messages (MMS) also sometimes arrive as if they were sent to just me even though the message details indicate they're sent to a group.

Has anyone experience this and figured out a workaround? I completely reset my phone to no avail.
