Hello everyone.

My GF and I both had Apple iPhones. We spend considerable time apart and we often send lengthy text messages to each other. For my last upgrade, I decided to upgrade to the HTC One. She stuck with the iPhone. Immediately, she began complaining that my text messages were coming to her in pieces.

Her text messages to me are also coming through in pieces, and sometimes they are out of order or there are pieces missing. Is there anything I can do about this? We would like to send messages that are longer than tweets to each other. We are both on ATT's network and we never had this issue when we both had iPhones. Is it the HTC One that is the issue, or is it just the android platform?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really like the HTC One, but if our messages are going to be chopped up I need to know before the return period expires. Thanks.

I think it has alot to do with the size of the text message and it being sent as sms instead of mms. When sending very lengthy messages, especially cross platform, see if changing the method from sms to mms will help. I sometimes recieve choppy texts from other android users, and it's always recieved as an sms opposed to mms.

Have you thought about setting up gmail accounts on each of your phones it would save on the texts as well

Yes. Thanks for both of your responses. The Google talk/hangouts is looking like a great alternative. She's a bit annoyed she has to switch to another app just to message with me, but we might have to do that since I really love my One.

Now if only Google could make it so that their hangout/talk app sends to her regular messages app, that would be perfect. But we can't have everything we want.

You could also try downloading a different sms app. This was happening to me too, with my boyfriend's iPhone. I started using go sms and there's a setting to prevent large messages from splitting up.
