So, anyone thinking about jumping ship?

I never said I was going to. I was just looking for opinions. I know a lot of former Samsung fans, myself included, skipped the S6 due to the dismal battery they put in it. So with that being equal now on the S6E+ I just wanted to see if there was anyone planning on going back to Samsung. And I was more aiming the question toward the S6E+ not the Note 5, though they have basically the same specs.

As for why someone would switch? I think Samsung's displays have outdone LG and the G4 has had a lot of lag and touch sensitivity issues.

I believe the Galaxy Note series always have lower battery life than the Galaxy S series of the same year. I don't think it will change this year. If you are not happy with the S6 battery life, I think you will be more disappointed with the Note 5 or S6 Edge+ battery life. Now if they put the 3000mAh battery on the smaller S6, that would be a different story!

I left Samsung behind long ago, and in doing so, completely lost the taste for AMOLED. Became a self-proclaimed Motorola fanboy, and was eagerly awaiting the first gen Moto X until they revealed that it would have an AMOLED display. Just couldn't do it, so I went HTC with the M7, and now LG with the G4. All things considered, this is easily the best phone I've had yet. And I had forgotten how nice it is to have a removable battery (for future replacement more than daily swapping, at least in my case) - I thought it wouldn't be a big deal when I went with a sealed battery in the M7, but near the end of my time with it, the longevity (or lack thereof) was frustrating. It would take a hell of a lot to get me to leave replaceable batteries behind again.

So, that's an unnecessarily long-winded way of saying "Hell no". Samsung would have to stop being Samsung to get me back.

No SDCard means it's a big No!
Even the Note 4 is better than this crap.
What makes me laugh is the ''change in design'', well the glass back is not only rarely visible but for a phone that size it's hyper fragile!
The front of the phone = note 4 = note 3 = S6 = s5 = s4 = s3 =Ace = Ace 2 = PUKE!

I have no lag or touch sensitivity issues. I have no battery issues either...other than the fact I use the heck out of my phone and go to bed with 35-40% every night.

I'm pretty much a lifelong Samsung user, can't think of a single reason to go back.

BTW...the extra SD card and battery are priceless...0-100 with a new battery, absolutely fantastic.

Actually, on the screen I totally agree with you - I much prefer the way OLED screens look compared to IPS panels, I really love the way the colours pop on the S6 edge screen. OLED screens in general just look more appealing, even if that says nothing about colour accuracy -- they are often worse than IPS screens in that regard. Touch sensitivity is an interesting topic, the G4 is sometimes over-sensitive, but that's not a show-stopper in any way. That's almost my only gripe with the G4 at the moment. And yeah, I have no lag issues whatsoever, but that doesn't mean others don't... I depends on what you install, and how you use your phone.

I couldn't agree more -- I really want these manufacturers to understand that consumers should be able to choose batteries and storage. If I want to use this really nice phone in three years time, I want to be able to make that choice. And with current battery technology, that means I need to be able to swap batteries.

Give it time, dude. You may find that you'll come to prefer IPS after a while. I could be wrong, but it happened to me and to others. If not, at least you'll have longevity with IPS.

Not me. I'm extremely pleased with my G4. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best camera out there right now, and I'm all about the camera (no surprise, I'm a photographer). Besides, with new devices coming every month, at some point, you have to decide that your satisfied, or all you do is spend the rest of your life wanting something else. About 1 new device every year is good enough for me.

Yup. IPS panels still have the longevity advantage, at least for now. You know what would be even better? Proper colour calibration at the factory, AND give the user the choice to switch between sRGB and wide-gamut modes.

Gave Samsung one more shot with the s6 after swearing them off. Liked the phone, hated the battery. Have had the g4 for a couple weeks and I'm loving it so far. First LG. I like that Sammy is making more premium devices but I feel they failed at execution and are trying to be like Apple... That ain't a good thing.

I'll more than likely be going to the Moto X Pure Edition and giving my wife the G4. Love the G4, don't get me wrong, but this is a combination of me wanting to get back to an X and Moto finally releasing one in a size I prefer and the fact that my wife's current phone is crapping out in her.

G4'ed it!

I don't really have a lot of lag issues but have had some of the touchscreen issues. And no battery issues ever. Never had to swap the spare in.

Honestly dying to hear details of the g4 pro. I love the g4 enough that id upgrade only for that or next years g5. LG made a fan out of me.

After coming from Note 4 and s6 edge, my G4 have 2 battery, 64gb sd card installed, raw images while tweaking in photoshop, beautiful red and brown leather back, fast focus camera and $20/month installment in TMobile... Nope i am not jumping ship for awhile.

The new LG Nexus would have to blow my mind. Otherwise, 2016 Nexus. That's the plan at least. Could be amended, depending on how M treats my G4.

Edit: Also, I've purchased an additional leather back to back up the leather back I already have. I'll probably be keeping this phone for a while.

I'm not planning to change phones. Hopefully I'll keep my G4 for 2 years.

Unfortunately, what I've heard about the Note 5 and S6E+ announcements left me quite unimpressed.

I'd read a rumor the other day that the Note 5 would still have an SD card, just no removable battery. Turns out that it gets neither SD nor a removable battery. I was hoping they'd at least keep a device in their stable that appealed to the SD & battery crowd.

I realize my priorities are not the same as everyone else's. But I really like having an SD card and removable battery (as evidenced by my G4). I'm disappointed they removed those from even more of their products. And the bezels might be small, but the Note 5's screen is even bigger than the G4's, and I already would prefer that the G4 was a little smaller.

Larger battery sizes in the N5 and S6E+ also would sound good to me. Hopefully they're efficient enough that battery life is not an issue.

The screen size of the Moto X Style (Pure) also strikes me as too-big, though I realize other people will love the size. And no removable battery is unfortunate.

Don't forget amoled screens have a high tendency to get burn-ins, image is more lively but having burnins is terrible

You'll get nay-sayers on this topic, but from my personal experience, it's quite the case. I had screen burn in on my Samsung Galaxy S3 before it was 2 years old, and my phones don't get a lot of SOT, so I call "shenanigans" on anyone who declares otherwise.
