So glad I didn't get the HTC One X

I guess you definition of adding to the discussion is different than mine. I see your buddy hasn't provided on shred of evidence that I don't believe burn in happens. Doesn't that bother you? He also never provided one shred of evidence that I claimed the S G III was without bugs. He has continued to side step my direct questions as to his statements. But you continue to defend him. Disappointing.

This will be my last post in this thread, mainly because it's getting to the point (past the point) of diminishing returns.

First, I don't need evidence, blog posts, support techs, or anything else to convince me that an S3 can get screen burn it. I've had and seen burn in on plenty of AMOLED devices, including my own second GNex, my friend's Skyrocket, and my roommate's first S3 (Pebble Blue, T-Mobile). It's the nature of the beast. Doesn't matter if the AMOLED screen is on a GNex, S3, or incorporated into Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat. It's a reality and a negative of the technology used. Same with tinting--Samsung goes for a base yellow tint, but sometimes it goes awry and you get a purple or blue tint, particularly at the angles. You know why? Because blue pixels burn out the quickest in an AMOLED screen, so they're overloaded. The yellow tint, in theory, is supposed to counteract that--but sometimes it does not. Hence we have things like color control (Voodoo color) in certain kernels--so we can properly adjust the tinting and gammas.

Secondly, it's not a matter of supporting Kevin's substance, but the fact that all that is happening is pointless bickering. Using stuff like "fail trail" does not aid in your points, neither does consistently quoting and demanding higher thresholds of proof. This is not a court room--it's Android Central. It's a forum predicated on community, support, and all things Android. There is no "best evidence" rule here (or in real life, if we want to be completely honest with ourselves). There is no trier of fact. There is no trier of law. In the end, it's just us sharing what we love to do--talk Android. Going after people in a relentless fashion, regardless of whether you or anyone else feels justified in doing so, does not share in that communal spirit.

The discussion here is interesting, the "you're a failure and I don't trust you" stuff is not. If you want to reclaim your points, do so without implicitly or explicitly attacking someone.

This thread should be locked.. points have been made, tensions have risen and I feel it's only going to get worse from here.

I'd cite common sense--that tech support knows what they know, and that's little to nothing. Having dealt with the laughable support at both Verizon and Samsung, this is neither a stretch nor an unreasonable conclusion.

And honestly, I trust Jerry, Kevin, and the bloggers here moreso than I would tech support. Believe it or not, they may just know more than them....

I'm am sure there are tech support people who are hard working, honest and knowledgeable. Your attack on the whole tech support community or even the Verizon and Samsung techs just to support your friend is really uncalled for. I know you said that you have posted your last response but perhaps you will take this opportunity to modify your criticism of the entire tech support profession.

"We are aware that there are official-looking websites online that have statements regarding recalls, but these are not Samsung sites, and this information is not accurate."

How on earth is that skirting the issue?

Uh did you even read that? The rep says NOTHING about Samsung replacing screens with burn in. He is talking specifically about a recall, which hasn't been discussed anywhere.

If you're going to troll, at least be good at it.

while id like to know for sure if samsung will replace screens with burn-in (within the guarentee period id guess) us arguing about it isnt gona get us the info. we have to wait until people experience it first hand and report their experience. i dont doubt that any LED screen can develop burn in but i think the question is how quickly its lightly to happen. i agree that thread has became a bit acrid and isnt good for community spirit. i respect what both sides are saying but i dont like the general tone of it. we're all phone geeks. we all get a buzz from learning things and helping people. cant we agree that some people in this thread are intelligent and have good debating skills and move on? please ;)

Who in this thread said it couldn't?

I don't consider correcting false or misleading information bickering.

"There is no "best evidence" rule here (or in real life, if we want to be completely honest with ourselves)."

Human beings use the best evidence rule every single minute of the day. We are constantly assessing what we read with what we see, what we hear with what we experience, etc.

"There is no trier of fact."

Au contraire. The biggest court in all the land is the court of public opinion.

Well, that was fun but of course your entire post was a smoke screen to avoid addressing my requests for any proof that I said the S 3 had no problems, that I did not believe in burn in and that I said people should trust me. Still waiting.

Very good points. To show that I'm a big man I will agree that I am intelligent and have good debating skills. :D

Did you even read that he said the article that Kevin referenced was false. I attached the article to my email to Samsung. He obviously read it. He didn't say information like this is not accurate. He said this information is not accurate. Original quote below:

"We are aware that there are official-looking websites online that have statements regarding recalls, but these are not Samsung sites, and this information is not accurate."

Sorry your post was garbled. I got the part about intelligent and good at holding a debate but the rest was unintelligible. I'm sure it was praise worthy also. Seriously, glad to see someone here who keeps an even keel.

lol no problem. think im getting old lol im becoming far more moderate. dont know if i like it or not :p

Too bad I never said anything about recalls.

See my italics and underline added to YOUR bold for an answer to your ?

The tech said the article you based your entire argument on was not correct. I attached the article itself to my query. The recall comment was in reply to my question about Samsung taking back phones with burned in screens.

I sent a copy of the article (attached) that Kevin has touted as proving that Samsung takes responsibility for screen burn in and will replace the phone: Here is Samsung's reply:

So that clears up the second glaring error in this thread. We can now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

Nope, what he's talking about specifically refers to recalls, which are not mentioned at all. This is basic (ok maybe not basic) English grammar and sentence structure. He did not say "the entire article is inaccurate."
