Previously enrolled in beta program. Unenrolled (and verified by logging in to g.co/androidbeta.com where it shows that my device is indeed unenrolled).
Checked system update and I surely have an update ready but guess what - it's the 451 MB system update that is the 12L beta. Incompetent google child developers screwed up yet another update. Is supposed to install latest public update, not a beta

Exact same situation right now. I am so pissed. I hope their is a fix for this. Ugh

Had the same on my Pixel 5. Re-enrolled, waited a couple of days and unenrolled and the stable version downloaded. Have since upgraded to Pixel 6 Pro.

I had that issue and thought it was an issue but after waiting about 10-15 mins it refreshed properly.

Same for me

Yeah, seems like you can't roll to March 2022 stable release without doing a full factory reset and flashing the OS. I had to factory reset and use the Android Flash Tool to go back to stable.

Maybe they'll fix it in future, but as it is, only way is for a full wipe.

They always stated that there needed to be a full wipe - that's not so bad. What sucks is that the Google Flash Tool will not work on a carrier locked device so that you can never leave the beta program. Time for a class action lawsuit!

Yes the full wipe is fine.

The other part is infuriating and should be illegal. I'm completely hosed right now

I thought carriers by law had to give consumers the ability to unlock devices. On VZ site

Beginning on 7/23/2019, devices purchased from Verizon are locked for 60 days from the date of purchase. This policy applies to new and existing customers, postpaid and prepaid plans and customers porting their service to another carrier.

Please see examples below for more information:

Device purchased at full retail price or on a device payment agreement – Locked for 60 days from purchase

What purchase means to them is vague but can't hurt to call

I just reverted back and did a full wipe and the backup restored probably 95% or more of all my app data and settings. I have very few things that have to be re-setup.

I mean it even restored my Nova launcher gestures and all.

I had the same issue, no matter how many times I unenrolled/enrolled I was always stuck on a beta. I had to brush up on my ADB / Fastbbot skills and flash the March factory image.

I'm pretty sure that is their carrier unlock policy, not bootloader unlock. Verizon will unlock your phone to move to a different network (after whatever stipulations apply) but does not offer bootloader unlock. There are numerous angry threads about this on the Verizon help forum, some sales reps don't know the difference between carrier unlock vs bootloader unlock.

If your using flash.android.com you really don't need to know how to add and fastboot.

Yeah being on Verizon I'm stuck on the beta. I re enrolled in the beta so at least system update stops showing that useless update to go back to public stable.

Google is terrible at this

That's cool. I'm old school as well but sometimes the short path reaps greater rewards. Lol. Besides some people may not want to go through all that so when they read this thread it may help them down a different path

Why does everyone blame Google for Verizon’s shenanigans?

Stop buying carrier phones, especially Verizon.

Probably because Google doesn't warn anyone what they are in for when they install the beta. It just I stalls. It's not until the want to revert back is when they are finding out that you can't very easily. They should be preventing the carrier phones from I stalling it.

As for getting carrier phones, people do it because of deals or convenience. For instance, my phone is a t-mobile phone. I actually get a .40 credit for my bill so I didn't pay for this phone and... t-mobile unlocked mine so now there isn't any difference between mine and a Google unlocked phone.

Free wins all with me.

Excuse me?

This is 100% on Google. Absolutely nowhere does it say when joining the beta is that you have to flash a phone to get out of it.

First of all I do know how to flash as I used to use custom ROMs. But it's insane to expect the average consumer to have to learn all this just to get out of a beta that's easy to opt in.

For folks like us who are tech savvy who understand flashing and bootloaders, fine, but they gave ZERO WARNING. They completely mishandled the whole thing. It's terrible and to defend them is wrong
