So...how are you getting on with the Nexus 6P?

The iPhone doesn't measure screen on time. If you are comparing usage time on your iPhone to screen on time of the 6P, it's not a fair comparison.
This! iPhone usage time includes anything the phone does. Music with the screen off? That goes to usage. Apps auto updating? That goes to usage time. Android's SoT is solely for when the screen is illuminated, nothing else.

Love the Nexus. Unlocked the Bootloader, systemless root and flashed Franco Kernel. Since I was rooted I just loaded the update with fastboot. Took 5 min. I'll probably do that with every update because I won't be taking Franco Kernel off with over 6hrs consistently screen time all the time.

I remember using Franco kernel on older devices. That guy does awesome work. But, I've had no desire to root the last 5-7 Android devices I've used!

Yeah I haven't rooted since the Nexus 5. I never rooted after that with any Sammy devices with the Knox trigger. I wasn't planning on rooting the 6p but just keeping stock but with the Custom Kernel. It's amazing though. Even having double tap to wake is great

That would be awesome. I must fight the urge LOL

It's ok, good screen, battery isn't too bad but I do get intermittent bluetooth stutters, Google play is slow to open sometimes and phone signal drops too easily. Maybe I'm expecting too much!

Yep... If I used iOS-type stats, my average would be 9.5h of 'active' time per charge. Why they don't register screen time is beyond me.

For me the honeymoon is over and while I still think it's a fantastic phone, there are some things that drive me crazy:

1. The lack of any type of one-handed support is ridiculously unacceptable IMO. The Galaxy Note has had if for years, the iPhone has it, any phone of this size should have it.

2. I know this is a personal thing but the location of the volume and power drive my nuts, I'm endlessly hitting the power when I don't mean to, and why for the love of God do they have them right where I'd like to rest my fingers to hold the phone comfortably? Again, I know some people like them there, but it drives me nuts that i have this unbelievable phone and can't hold it comfortably. I'd like them further up.

3. I am endlessly accidentally bringing up the mode where you would add widgest to the screen etc., a longer press and hold should be required to do that. Not sure if that's possible to change in settings...

4. Multiple times a day the phone insists it has been restarted and that I need to enter my password, when it has not been restarted. And WHY does it insist on a password when the phone is first started, when it has fingerprint recognition?

I have not read about rooting but that may be what I end up doing to see if I can find apps that help deal with these issues.

This is concerning... You might be getting some kernel panics that are causing your phone to restart (it happens to the best of us). The only time that prompt hits is after a system start. In settings, 'about phone', you should see uptime stats...

If you are getting reboots, pop back and start a new post so the peeps here can help.

I agree with all your negatives and I ended up returning mine since I am a non-rooter. It's still a great device but wasn't for me so back to my M7 for now...thinking of trying a Note 5 or waiting to see what HTC comes up with next.

It's day two of owning the 64gb Nexus 6P and here is my (very limited) experience so far:
- screen is gorgeous; text is crisp and brightness is adequate.
- everything runs smoothly, no hiccups and lags
- sound is amazing: it shoots audio via the front facing speakers and they're loud enough

Although 64gb is more than enough for me but I really wish there was a MicroSD slot; the weight (or lack thereof) concerns me sometimes because it sometimes feels flimsy and I could accidentally fling it across the room if I don't grip it firm enough. I'm also worried about the glass panel on the back.

Actually I just moved to Android after six years with WP (lack of apps finally got to me, and the 950's dismal showing really was the camel that broke the camel's back). Could someone recommend me some apps worth downloading? (Aside from the usual Facebook, Twitter etc)

This is the biggest issue I have with the phone too. The buttons are placed where a person would normally hold the phone. Compare that with the Iphone 6S, the buttons are placed much higher and away from where fingers hold the phone. A big design mistake.

Hmm had mine for 6 weeks now, I came from a oneplus one. This is my third nexus (galaxy nexus, nexus 4, 6p)
A few things.

It feels delicate.
Yeah it's nice for a nexus, but I've never had a phone that felt so fragile. Metal inspires confidence but thin metal makes me very nervous, especially with people bending the things left and right. My oneplus one felt solid. My galaxy nexus was solid, my droid maxx was solid, my nexus 4 was so so, I'm pretty sure an s6 can hammer a nail that's metal done right.

It's fast.
This sucker flies, but so did my oneplus one.

It gets updates fast.
But I like root and xposed, so I have to jump through hoops to get the updates.

It has marshmallow.
So did my oneplus one.

It has nfc.
I didn't want a oneplus two because it lacked nfc and I used Google wallet regularly. Turns out you can't use Android pay with root and xposed. I assumed there would be a STABLE & consistent workaround by now, but nope.

It charges fast!
But it dies faster than my oneplus one. If you don't touch it the phone will last for days, but who the hell cares about that. I molest my phone regularly.

The screen is beautiful.
But only if you replace the kernel and adjust the tuning yourself which means no Android pay.

It's doesn't get fingerprint on the screen easily.
I think it's black magic and I'm OK with that.

It keeps my hands warm.
At the expense of battery life.

It has a fingerprint reader.
It's awesome. A fantastic feature.

It has USB type C!
But its a pain in the ***.

The finish is nice in the hand.
It slips

The audio quality from the headphone jack is terrible.
It really is awful, viper4android helps a bunch, but doesn't correct the audible crosstalk and you can't use Android pay. Seriously how did that slip past any QA.

It can use project fi.
I use between 24 and 50 gb a month so.. Yeah not gonna pay an absurd amount for data.

It's expensive.
People keep saying its a good price, but oneplus ruined my sense of value.

The camera is awesome.
Simply awesome. The only reason I can justify this phone is because of the camera, which is OK because I bought it for the camera.

It has/is getting band 12
This was my second reason for getting this phone.

If I had to do it all again, I might go with a oneplus 2 if they do get tmo certified volte. Maybe.

not sure how you can say it's expensive if you live in the US. if not, I digress and can't argue your point, but at least here, $499 is an amazing value for what you're getting.

I also highly disagree that it's fragile. IMO it's a sturdy, premium feel with a solid build quality.

And personally I love USB-C and I've never experienced it getting warm. Makes me wonder if we're using the same phone cause my experience has been completely different.

I really love how HTC phones handles auto brightness, I never felt need of brightness slider in HTC phones.. unfortunately on HTC One A9 they using google implementation(It seems so) and I've to deal with all these issues.. but M8 and M9 auto brightness is really awesome..

BTW does anyone felt 2K(QHD) AMOLED and LCD feels different(not talking about colors but sharpness) It feels like LCD have more pixels feels more sharpness.. that's what I've noticed in Nexus 6p and LG V10 display.. but of course to the eye Nexus 6p display feels more pleasing.. but bit less sharp..

exaggeration is an art in itself...

had one for allmost 3 months now.
Batterylife is very good, but 72 hours is impossible unless its in doze all the time
speed is very good, but "the feel" is hardly better then my Nexus 5(1st gen)
Fingerprint reader also, best I know, but not 100% accurate
32 GB is absolute minimum for a top phone, 64/128GB hard to get in Netherlands, sd cardslot would be very much appreciated
speakers very good, but Huawei P8 lite just as good
Cam on top phone should at least have optical stabilization, I don't like the cam app
I have Tomtom nav app, takes 30 secs to open, don't know wether its phone or app problem but is very annoying

But.. , it's the best phone ive had yet

Well I factory reseted the phone and it still wont go further than 3 hours of SOT.

I think I am stuck with a bad unit and my return period is gone. :(

I would love to be able to ask the designers why they made that choice, not just the location, but the idiocy of having power right next to volume, it had to be a very explicit choice, as opposed to an oversight. They could have even just located the power button a half inch higher, so it's not right next to the volume, and even that small change would have given the user a place to rest their index or forefinger.

The irony is that in every other respect, take the camera for instance, they make it so it's almost impossible to snap a pic with one hand. But then on the one set of buttons I want to have to reach for so I don't hit them accidentally, they put them where I can't avoid them.

No more Samsung phones for me. By far the best Android experience by far. Totally smokes my Note 5 and even my 6S Plus I had. Love this phone
Just wondering how the battery life and camera on the 6P compares to the iPhone 6S Plus. I had been an Android user dating all the back to the OG Motorola Droid back in 2009 but switched a few months ago to the 6S Plus which is my first iPhone. I had previously used the Nexus 6 and find that the 6S Plus has much better battery life and a far superior camera. If I were going to have a long day, I'd always need to have a charger for the N6 but have never needed one for the 6S Plus. Also the N6 took a long time to take pictures (HDR in particular) but my 6S Plus is way quicker, not to mention the improved quality.

All that said, I miss Android's software as I find iOS to be antiquated and pretty cumbersome to use.
